Glad to hear it. =)Thanks for posting the scanned label. I printed that out this evening and took it to my local store. They were marked $59, I went to customer service and was honest. "On this website I frequent there was discussion...blah blah blah... here is a scanned label from another store". She checked with her superior who said "Ya, we'll honor that."
Out the door with 2 of them.
Thanks!

Woot!!!
Need to share a bit of a "stickin' it to the man" story here...
Went searching all over hell's-half-acre for these, went to like 6 stores over a day. Found one store near me with NINE of them in stock, but the manager was a real ***, lectured me how he didn't CARE that I had a reciept from another Lowes less than 10 miles away on the SAME day for the same item for the proper price. He couldn't sell them for $29.50 because he would be losing $100 per cabinet! I told him that every other Lowes on the PLANET was selling them for that, and that his pricing coordinator needed to get on the stick.
So then I got home and called the Lowes Corporate Customer Service (800)44-LOWES and lodged a complaint. Within 24 hours said manager calls me back to say yes he will sell them to me for $29.50 each. Now I only really wanted a couple more, but just to be an *** I took them all.
Now we get to the FUNNY parts:
1) They were loaded on a pallet. 3 rows high of 3 each deep. The lady at the register asked, so you have EIGHT there? I turned around and COUNTED 1, 2, 3 then counted down 1, 2, 3... and said, "yes ma'am you are correct, EIGHT". She charged me for EIGHT. You know, I'm as honest as the next guy, but sometimes you just can't help stupidity and you just hold your peace. I figure it's about even with the gas I spent...
2) I was driving my little Nissan Versa (which I always take **** for, cause I'm such a big guy). The guy loading tried to tell me there was no way that NINE of these things would FIT in my little car. I just chuckled...

So chalk up NINE more...![]()
good move at the register....reminds me of when I was buying carpet for my son's dorm at a store that shafted me on a return. I cut off 12 feet of carpet and the price was $.99/foot. The ***** cashier rang up $.99. I didn't say a word...what goes around comes around!
I guess it doesn't pay to argue with stupidity
Yea, but there's a huge difference betweenI understand about stickin' to the man. Have done it in the past and tried to reason with the cashiers but to no avail. I am guilty. In the end these acts are what drives our prices up. Just my .02.
Yea, but there's a huge difference between
"so you're buying 8?
"oh, yes... 8..."
and
"so you're buying 8?"
"no ma'am, there are 9cart"
"I only see 8"
"there are in fact 9"
"I still only see 8"
"oh, okay, there are 8"
When i picked up some 1" black iron pipe to run the gas line out to the garage, Lowes had it in stock and it was priced by the foot; like $2.16 per foot. So I proceed to the register with three 10' pieces and my $10 off $50 coupon. Cashier scans the piece of pipe and it came up $2.16 each. I fumbled around for my debit card and paid the $14 dollars and left quietly. Sometimes the cashiers just have no idea what stuff costs.
Actually, no it's not "like" that. It's like the people that put the soda and beer on the bottom of the shopping cart and pretend to forget to unload it on the counter at the grocery store.. I see that all the time..
I've also started the install of the now rediculous amount of 42 cabinets, and will be posting the progress hopefully by the end of the weekend. I've hit a couple snags in the begining layout the past week but think I've got them worked through.
Actually, no it's not "like" that.
That would be stealing. The clerk not having caring or having enough brains to know a 10' stick of black iron is worth more than 2.00 is not the same as knowingly walking out with merchandise without paying.
How'd you con her into doing that job? You must've promised her something big!!I'm glad I'm not the one who has to assemble 42 cabinets!!![]()

Expecting a clerk to know the price of every item in the store is pretty ridiculous. Now days all their required to do is properly scan the item. If for some reason it scans wrong or the clerk miscounts items, attention should be called to the mistake if you're aware of it. Anything else would be the same as stealing in my book.
I feel like such a looser for not getting in on this.. My local lowes has them all marked 59 dollars... :ugh:
Given that mentality, a pickpocket victim should be held accountable for the theft of their wallet. Surely they could have been in a position where they could have better protected themselves, but in the end, it's the thief that knowingly walks away with something that they did not rightfully purchase or have a right to take, that should be held accountable. If it IS considered stealing, it should be the employee that is held accountable for the theft.
Actually, some pipe is sold by the 10' piece...conduit comes to mind.PJDiesel said:I don't expect them to know the exact price of every single item in stock. What I DO expect them to know is that many things they sell are sold by the foot, and it should be fairly obvious that a 10' long piece of iron pipe costs more than $2.00.
hmmmm....I think we have 2 threads going on at the same time....only on the internet!![]()

You know, this was probably one of the absolute best GJ threads -- until yesterday afternoon, that is.
Please STOP sticking it to the corporate man already. Wall Street has done that enough lately. Let's get back to the discussion at hand and concentrate on assembling and installing our bargain cabinets and then posting inspiring pictures.
There are many other threads for off-topic discussion.
wow this thead is sure taking a wild turn. As getting $90 bucks off a cabinet wasn't already great now it's about justifying if stealing from lowe's is ok as long as the clerk is an idiot?
I mean, it's not stickin' it to the man to let a cashier think that one is buying 8 units when there are in fact 9. If a customer is oblivious, that's one thing. But to let it pass knowingly... I don't really agree with that.

Uh... if you re-read my original post I COUNTED the cabinets out for her. THREE times THREE, then when when I saw no comprehension in her eyes, I just agreed with her. I'm sorry but if you are competant enough to run a register, you should also be competant enough to know what that three times three is 9, not 8. Also consider my answer below:

Given this info, I'd say that you did all that you could be expected to do.Uh... if you re-read my original post I COUNTED the cabinets out for her.
