I'm gonna try the print out and see if it works @ at my local store.

In the mean time can someone give me the internal dimensions of the storage area? I know its a 28" cabinet but I assume that's the overall dimension. Can you put like a gallon jug, of say, windshield wiper fluid in it? Or a gallon oil container? or 1 of each + more?

thanks in advance.

Well no luck. I went to the Soth Lake store here in N. Texas and at first the manager said they won't compete with other stores. Their price was $59 too. So I called corporate and filed a complaint asking to match the prices of the other stores and was told that I would get a call back. Well about 2hrs later I got a call and they basically said they wouldn't sell it at that price either. Something about every store is independent and they base their clerance prices on how well those items have sold at their sotre. So I guess South Lake had good success with that item and they are not budging even though it a closeout item.

oh well. I guess I got in on the action too late. :(

Depending on where you put the shelf (or don't put the shelf) you can get quite a bit in these things, I have one with 2 gallons of wiper fluid, a gallon of anti freeze, a gallon of fertilizer and there is still a little extra room for some smaller items. I actually didn't use the extra shelf in many of mine and put in 3 shelfs in the cabinets I'm using as a tool cabinet.

I dont feel like such a looser anymore, I went to the Lowes in Kingsville TX, peeled off the 59 dollar price tag to find 29.50, score, so I took that tag to another lowes and got 5 of them!

Back on topic....A friend and I put 10 of our 14 together this weekend...I was knocking them out in about 25 minutes a piece...did 1 or 2 in 23 minutes or so...My friend was a little slower, but we got them done....

I put three together this weekend and bolted all three together. Now that was a pain. After putting a few together in singles, bolting them together got a little confusing as to what needed to be bolted to what first. And what was the icing on the cake was that the middle of the three I had the darn sides flipped.:mad:so I had to unbolt the end cabinet to get it fixed. But it does look a little better hanging than the rails. I had to drill one hole in each end cabinet to be able to hit all the studs. All the rest of the holes fell on the studs giving me two mounting points at the top of each cabinet. I'm also finding that my fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be. The Allen wrench hit the floor many a time and luckily the panel were a channel that caught the nuts countless times. :lol_hitti I'll snap some pics tonight. Bad thing is all the cabinets will have to come down when it warms up so I can repaint

Call all the stores that are within a distance that you are willing to drive to.

I found 7 today a hour and a half away. The manager said $59.50 but he would match 29.50 if we brought a tag in.

Are people stupid? $50 + $35 shipping? Cant imagine anyone being that desperate for one. Definitely not worth paying to have one of those shipped. I guess the buyer could be picking it up..

Why is that stupid? These cabinets retail for ~$120. There are many people that check ebay but don't know how to google to check for deals.

I checked the bid history and it started at .99 cents. So he could of lost out on a no reserve also.

But its most likley one of the board here that bought up more than he could use and now will make a few dollars on them.

I found this thread late. Does anyone know if this clearance is still going on/ I kinda doubt it, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask. Also, I am in SoCal and I don't know how many TGJ guys are out here but I'm guessing we have a lot of Lowe's stores so the possibility of getting some of these may be better?

I was late also, but I got 5 on sunday. Your best bet is go start hitting up all the Lowes and peel back the price sticker to hopefully find one that has the 29.50 sticker, then take that tag to a store w/ some in stock and get them to match it.

Thats what I did, they matched it no hassles

Thanks to GJ and the original poster for the heads up on these. I just assembled my first one the other night. Took a bit longer than expected but I was real impressed with the quality of the units. I guess that's why the original price seemed a touch high. They actually were probably worth it. At the price we paid, this deal was absolute robbery. Now I just gotta figure out how I want to mount them. Had been tempted to buy their mounting rail and cut a piece of board the shim the bottom away from the wall, but I don't like what people are saying about the big gap this leaves behind them.

Oh well. Thanks again

Heck, check this out:
http://austin.craigslist.org/tls/1058513427.html

I'd feel better if he didn't state: "These retail at Lowe's for $118" since they have been$59.** or $29.** for some time now. No need to fib to make a sale. Pretty sure this is the second time this was listed...don't know if he had multiples or didn't hook a fish the first time.

Rated load 150-Pounds per cabinet, based on lab test of 600-Pounds per cabinet, and rated load 40-Pounds for each shelf, based on lab test of 160-Pounds for each shelf.

40 lbs. on the shelf would make me leery. 160 lbs on the shelf.....no way. On a couple of the shelves I have some gallon cans and a few other things and they tend to want to bow a little in the middle area.

On the other hand, the seller did add a lot of fluff to it to try and sell it.

Nothing here in Vermont! I just checked on two Lowes stores in the Burlington area and they are selling the cabinets at full price of $118. No peeling off stickers either...their price tags were in a ziploc-style vinyl pouch clipped to the item. Oh well, you win some...you lose some!

Whew! Thanks "Muscles". saved me a lot of work. LOTS of Lowes inthe Metro L.A. area. I don't know if it's been covered, but why did they lower the price to $29, then up it to $59? Was it a mistake or what? I'm surprised they're not on to our take-the-$29-tag-to-another-store scheme yet!

I think because the sales went through the roof at $29.. So they bumped them to $59.

My Lowes stores are now all out of teh cabinets. Checked the last couple days when I was there for regular shopping.
My guess is someone had a $29 receipt from the week of the sale and got them to match and sweet talked them out of the rest. Hard to imagine someone paid $60 for them..but they might have.

I sent a response to a guy selling them for $85 on CL.Told him they were clearanced for $29.50 etc.

He responded, "Really! Dammit! I need to take these back to the store then. Thanks!"

Seemed like didn't have a clue about the sale.

Nah. He was just trying to sell them for a good profit (probably got them for $29) and got caught. Played ignorant so he wouldn't seem like a scam artist. Just like the guys selling new HF **** on CL for more than they paid for it, hoping someone will assume a "Chicago Electric" (or whatever brand they sell) is a quality machine, perhaps made in good 'ole Chicago.

160 lbs is likely the failure load. Plus, that's likely for evenly distributed weight. That's about 1/2 lb per square inch. I figure 28" wide, by what, 11" deep? 160/308 sq inches -> 1/4 of that is 1/8lb = 2 oz. 2oz per square inch for the entire shelf is the recommended maximum load.

A gallon of paint is what, about 8-10 lbs? If a can has a 7" diamater (or is it 6?), that 10lb load would impart a 1/4" lb per sq in. load on the shelf. That should still be alright, as long as you're not loading each shelf with 4 gallons or more of paint.

Personally, I'd use a sturdier cabinet for bulkier or heavier items such as paint cans.

There still out there fellas. Snagged the last 8 in Fredrick MD. It was a hour and 15 minutes away but worth it. They had Them tagged at 59.50 but after talking to the manager he lowered them down to 29.00 even if I took them all.

Keep looking for them!! I was in a store today that had 10 on the top shelf and 2 down on the regular shelf! They were marked $59, but I am sure they would have matched the priced since they did with my air hose reel!!

Brian
(I am trying to hold myself back from buying more). Can't really think of anywhere to put them.

brmorr, what stores did you look at? I went to Naperville, Bolingbrook, St. Charles, and Orland Park - no one had them or even a listing for them...probably just clueless but I looked at the top of the racks and didn't see any.

I scored two of this these weekend. Potentialy found two more at another local store. Price was $59. Though bought the display model for $53. Neither store was bitting on the $29 deal, regardless of what I brought in. Bummer. I think I got the last any were near me. Between who I called and went to I covered ten stores.

I could not secure the $29 deal either, but I did pick up 4 back on the 2nd at half price. Still a good deal and I've been playing hell since to make room to use them. I went back and opted to do the track strips for the mounting and so far I have two up and bolted together. Bad news is that with the wife's 3 bay cooler taking half of one garage wall, washer, dryer, frige, freezer and door to house taking the back wall, and a 16' garage door taking the front....the old compressor is going to have to take up residence outside now

They are gone according to the chick on the phone. :(

Yeah - probably. That was Wednesday night. To be honest - I was very surprised that they had any at all.

I'll check tonight - I'm 90% done with an addition - so that means I'm there every freakin' day picking up something or other! I'll take a look!
