Alright, so I bought one of the Gladiator wall cabinets mentioned in this thread.

How it was when I first realized the issue.

Ready for washers.

I just spent some time assembling said cabinet, and here are a few comments on the process.

1. The bottom panel on mine was too narrow, leaving a 3/16" gap or greater between the side panel faces and the bottom panel. I ended up putting in some 1/4" washers, but they're too thin - I'm going to have to shim it up later on. I have no idea what caused this - perhaps inaccurate bends in the sheet metal?

2. Machine screws are used in certain places. Several of these holes are not tapped, and the screws are unable to create their own threads. Some threads had to be chased by driving the screw from underneath, and two holes needed to be retapped completely. I had to use an power driver to force the screws that hold the doors into their "threaded" holes.

3. The entire unit is pretty stable, but slight details are all wonky. The sheet metal does not come together properly at the corners. Parts of the panel are not held tightly, meaning if you lightly tap a panel with your nail, you will hear the metal vibrating against the other panel it is attached to. There is no way around this, and it seems as though the holes in the sheets were placed slightly far apart.

Everything is assembled now, but we'll see how things go over the weekend when I will try to install it.

Maybe I just got a lemon. Anyways, my unit has a sticker saying it was manufactured in June '08, the manual shows pegboard door stiffeners, but my doors have the plain narrow stiffeners.
