Hey, it IS a tool !

The inside of windshields collect a "film" from out-gasing of the vinyl used on the top of the dashboard. Most cleaners I have used require repeating the cleaning process 2 or 3 times.

What is your favorite cleaner for the inside of windshields ?

Kleen Flo foam or bon ami foam. I also have some commercial concentrate that you mix up that works good too

I use 70% isopropyl "rubbing" alcohol. I just pour some on a rag and wipe away.

I use it for other tasks as well, so I already have it and no need to buy a dedicated glass cleaner.

I too like Sprayway, but have recently been using Menards ZEP brand glass cleaner. Works great on glass using the right glass cleaning towel, which I bought at Harbor Freight.

I believe it was called oily film remover by the wax shop, but it's been off the market for years. Stunk horribly but did a fantastic job.

-Can't speak for Sprayway, never used it. I did a brief stint with American Optical in the late 70's as a bench tech. We repaired, rebuilt, calibrated a lot of optical devices including microscopes. We used Sparkle glass cleaner exclusively for all lenses. The Illinois Crime Lab was a client that was well valued by AO, I used Sparkle on location for all the microscopes there. An old room mate was a glass cutter for high end architectural glass and he used some king of foamy stuff in a can, don't recall the name.

That film is NASTY. Most other stuff comes off in one shot, but I've never had luck with any single-pass cleaning method for plasticizer condensed on the inside of glass. The best method I've got is to first clean with distilled white vinegar and a microfiber rag, and after that's dried to a streaky fog, switch to Invisible Glass with a clean microfiber.

The good news is that by the vehicle's second summer, there's usually much less of this ****. Until you put something like a seat cover in your car and IT starts out-gassing.

Consumer reports did a test on this recently and Sprayway was the winner. IIRC, invisible glass was second or third.

My Walmart carries Sprayway, so they probably all do. The only thing I don't like about it is when using it on the inside of a windshield it gets all over the dash, etc. Not the end of the world, but a bit of a PITA compared to other cleaners...

Sprayway is good. Invisible Glass seems pretty good as well.

I got this can of Amsoil glass cleaner I'm using up now. Not impressed.

Spray it on the cloth, not the glass

Sprayway works well, but is only aerosol.

Liquid in pump sprayer: Sparkle (non-ammonia), Zep Pro concentrate (1 gallon makes 32 gallons- got it for $9.** on Amazon), windex, etc. even generic brands if necessary.

For cars in & out I add a couple of ounces of rubbing alcohol to the bottle. Cuts the film & sheets off better. Cheap additive.

Always spray & wipe with a rag or terrycloth and then polish with a clean micro fiber. I avoid paper towels on glass.

**** Sprayway is what I use to wipe down my interior  Probably not the best product for that use but it works for me!

On a side note, I have a can sitting in front of me right now. Says to shake well before each use......pretty sure I've never done that. The things ya learn if you just read huh?

Really no point in me saying that I use Sprayway also in regards to a recommendation.....

But I miss that Costco no longer sells it, used to be really cheap to buy it from Costco. I use Costco microfibers also. My last purchase of Sprayway was from Lowes, was cheaper than anyone else at the time (even Amazon which ain't always the cheapest).

Besides glass, I use it as a mild cleaner for all sorts of stuff, my cordless tools (sometimes), shoes, car interior, car seats, etc. The foamy action is what helps it clean well for certain things.

Yep and I prefer that far more than the aerosol version as it does foam up and cling to the surface instead of spraying all over the place like most cans tend to do.
