Glidden speed-wall, any good?

I am just about ready to paint my 2 garage (new drywall) and was scoping out paint at HD today. Is the contractor grade Glidden Speed-wall product any good? I is half the price price of Behr paints (5-gal ~$50 vs. $100). Is the quality and longevity significantly different? Is it worth saving $50 on the project? Or is the ~$100 price worth it for a garage or is it just marketing?

Also PVA primer also varies in price brand to brand, is the contractor stuff for $40 for 5-gal alright?

For the most part, you get what you pay for with paint. Cheaper paint tends to be "watered down" and doesn't do a good job of covering the walls. I would spend the $100 and get the better stuff. Same holds true for primer. My 2 cents...

Yea, the time and effort that goes into painting far outweighs the nominal cost.

Make sure to use a decent primer on that bare drywall first! I was a firm believer for a long time to just throw paint on it in multiple coats. Last project I did I Primered first and every coat of paint after that goes on so much easier and overall the whole job just looks better.

How much does pro-paint like Benjamin Moore cost per gallon? $30-40? I am trying to justify buying top-quality paint.

From what I've seen and used, the contractor grades of paint are junk. Its the stuff they use when they want to get by as cheaply as possible. Spend the extra $$ on a good quality primer and paint. You'll be glad you did. This is for the GARAGE, its not like you're painting the dining room or something.

I used a Sherwin Williams gloss paint on my garage and it is performing beautifully after 2 years.

I work at the Pro-Desk at Home Depot, and Both of those paints are good paint for what they are designed for. As long as you get some kind of Color added to it. You will get the (Flat) that you want. But as with allmost all flat paint, it can not be cleaned well. go with a Satin or Semi-Gloss. that way you can clean the dusk and dirt off of the walls. Also, the Semi-Gloss will reflect the light a lot better.

I am using a Hi-Gloss Red in my garage, and the light reflects well. It is also a Glidden paint. I use Glidden Paint, but I use Bher Concrete Paint, and Bher Deck Stain..........

ALWAYS use Primer.........the Gripper Primer is better than Kilz..............Good Stuff

I just painted my garage this weekend. Used Behr Ultra White No1050. I think it was around $20 per gallon at HD. That stuff sure did roll on nice. I used Glidden paint once......Did I tell you I used Glidden once..
