Gloves for Commercial HVAC Tech

My son has been working full time for a year as a commercial HVAC Tech and while I helped set him up tool-wise, he has struggled to find a pair of gloves that will offer some protection from the cold while giving him enough dexterity to do his work. (I realize that fine work on small parts is unlikely, but gloves that would at least permit him to remove access panels and similar work would be nice.)

I thought this would be a nice "stocking stuffer" type gift. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tim

PS I set him up with Klein screwdrivers, linesman pliers, cutters, strippers along with a lot of items from my tool box, mostly channel-lock pliers and older (30-35 year old) Craftsman mechanic tools as he does not need those very often. I took the opportunity to buy Proto sockets and wrenches and Knipex pliers and cutters for my own use. While my use does not justify the expense, they are definitely a pleasure to use.

Several years ago I purchased foamed nitrile gloves and although obviously not an actual winter glove in the sense of the word, I do find them to quite warm for mechanical work. With a snug but very stretchable fit they offer really decent abrasion resistance and the finger dexterity to pick up even small a screw. I bought a dozen pair and haven't used up half yet. They last a long time

Mine were the Liberty 4600 I sourced them thru Amazon

Basically are the same thing as the Maxi Flex brand of Gloves

Being HVAC usually can involve sheet metal fabrication work I don't know if like Kevlar cut resistance would be any type of priority :dunno: but Maxiflex and other brands offer a huge variety of different types of these gloves

From one A/C tech to another - Nomex pilots gloves. Fire resistant, some protection against cold, thin for good dexterity. Not cheap!

I get 'em at the military surplus store.
