I picked up a mostly complete set of metric GM goodwrench wrenches. They are made in USA. Any idea who made these and what kind of quality are they?

All I can tell you was Goodwrench was a campaign by General Motors that ran for nearly 40 years. Not sure who made the tools.

The typeface on that part number and the U.S.A. looks like Apex. They also did KD, Allen Armstrong, CM Professional, Napa and other brands. But that's just my guess.

Personally I think they are Stanley's. You also run across them occasionally under the True Value Master Mechanic name also. I would turn one over and look at the box end see if there is a really smooth transition of the shaft to the box end as pictured rather than a noticeable transition/ridge.
Well at least my opinion for it's worth.

Regardless, nice pick-up on some nice wrenches

They have a pretty smooth transition. 7d612ecd612a727a1a95d36a81e5cedf.jpg0c186912819e3fba35f0d3547f9e8bd4.jpg893a9b1fc030cc9420d74e37db59d427.jpg

I always thought those us made Stanleys were made by SK. They have the same thick in the hips boxed end as SK.
I thought the early Gearwrench made tools were Danaher made. :dunno:

All I know is they were sold at Sam's Club. My wife bought me the wrench and socket set years ago. They were surprisingly decent.

unfortunately they were stolen when my garage was broken into ten years ago.

Those certainly don't look like the Stanley's. The Stanley's certainly look more like the S-K. Just have a hard time picturing S-K ever making wrenches for a huge company like Stanley. Well perhaps those Goodwrench's were really sourced from the former Danaher.

They should've come standard with every new GM vehicle.

I agree, they look like a KD wrench set I have.
