I have yet to see a thread on this. What do guys think of the GM Performance line of tools ? I've got a set of metric combination ratchet wrenches and I like them. They were priced well, not cheap and not over priced as the truck brands. They feel good in my hand, work great. I've had them over a year now with not one single complaint. Whats your opinions....

The only GM performance parts tool I'm familiar with is a Taiwanese 1/2" drive 14mm hex bit socket that I have used a couple of times. It worked fine and seems nice enough for my needs.

Are they the same as what O'reilly auto parts has listed?
Are the wrenches Taiwanese or Chinese?
If you do not like truck prices (who does?) then check out Wright or SK. Much less expensive. Harry Epstein's has some good prices on Wright, a little over $100 for a 10 piece set.

I bought them from O'Rielly's when the rep came to the shop. Man, I hope their not chi-com, there's no stamp that says china or USA. I figured being GM they were U.S. made. This is gonna really **** if they're not

They are made in either Taiwan or China, I will check the label again next time I am in there.

And GM doesn't make hand tool for consumers, they just sold the marketing rights to their name to another company.

Someone made a comment on another thread about how their ratchet wrenches were made by stanley and were identical to taiwan blackhawk wrenches. Also that the address for info and warranty on the package was stanley. Just what i remember reading. Dont take it as fact, research yourself.

I discovered the GM Goodwrench/blackhawk connection as well.
I googled the warranty address found on the back of the package of the GM Goodwrench ratcheting wrenches, and it was the same as the blackhawk/proto address. They also look and measure the same as the blackhawk ratcheting wrenches.

However, this was GM Goodwrench wrenches sold by O'rilleys approx 3 years back. They are now GM Performance parts brand. IDK if they changed OEM's or just the name when Mr Goodwrench died.

From my experience, The GMPP/Goodwrench ratcheting wrenches are fantastic! They are Taiwan made, and better then modern china Gearwrench. All the other GMPP tools are horrible. They are on par with HF tools.

I know this is old but I work at o'reillys and i do believe that those tools are made in taiwan. I own a few of them myself and use them on a daily basis at work and I gotta say I love them. The rachet have plenty of teeth and they're really smooth. I prefer them over the husky and craftsman rachets of today. These rachets feel like something from matco as far as their gearing goes. I also use matco and snap on all the time while i'm in school. I prefer the matco tools just because of how their rachets feel and the gm rachets feel a lot like the matco ones. Something husky, kobalt, and even craftsman feel far from.
