Anybody have or used one of the TECH-2 clones for GM vehicles? I am having some problems with the HVAC actuators in my 2010 Suburban and supposedly the best way to diagnose and re-calibrate is with the TECH-2. The clones seem to run in the $300-$400 range but I am not a 100% sure what all it takes to make it work. It looks like some "software" comes with it but I might have to also purchase a GM subscription for some things. Also it looks like GM stopped some updates and no longer supports some of the module programming? Any help would be appreciated.

The software in question is a cracked version of either Tech-2 or GDS. Its functionality is uncertain, as it may or may not work. You're also plugging in a dongle which may or may not expose all functions electronically. Whatever you do if you do this... do not install that software on a computer you use daily for banking, etc. An old laptop without Internet access is good for this.
Before considering the use of cracked software, I recommend exploring the possibility of using a third-party bidirectional tool to address your needs.
I have found a lot of these new cheap 3rd party scan tools have almost all the same capability.
While I'm not familiar with the specifics of GM subscriptions, I managed to find a genuine Honda dongle on eBay for a reasonable price. I rent the software from Honda at a nominal cost on days when I encounter problems beyond the capabilities of a third-party scan tool.

Looks like the Autel MX808 will do this.
They're a tad over $300. I started buying the Autel units and I love them. I was skeptical at first.

That generation of GM HVAC controls is known for being flaky. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and re-connecting?
No insult meant to your background or knowledge, but just in case you hadn't had any experience with those controls I thought I'd toss that out there and possibly save you some time and effort. I had a 2004 Silverado and once every year or so I had to do the above described power cycle. YMMV.
Yep I have done that numerous times. It does sorta recalibrate but only lasts a short while. Supposedly the range sensor in the actuator can go bad and cause the problem. You need a bidirectional scan tool to test each one (there are 4) to figure exactly which one is the problem. And since they are hard to get to I dont want to just replace them for the fun of it.
I think your truck was the generation before. Mine falls into the 07-13 group.

GM vehicles also tend to have ground issues that can cause odd problems. It would be worth a check.
