3/8 drive: Carlyle 90 tooth flex head ratchet, the one that's about 9 1/2 inches long overall with a comfort grip.

1/4 drive: Gearwrench 84 tooth flex head ratchet, the all metal one.

My favorite ratchets are from Titan Tools. not high tooth count ( 36 I believe ) just like how they feel. the 1/2 inch drive one is longer then my craftsman plus has an offset handle which is a real knuckle saver have all three sizes in long reach ( flex head and non flex ) plus the 1/2 inch and 3/8 in offset handles. I have been very happy with the quality.

SK 3770 3/8 flex head w/ the bend in the handle. It's a great ratchet.

I have some SO dual 80's (very nice) and some other SK's but my goto is the SK3770.

Older SK, without exception.

The fine tooth ratchets feel nice and are great when space is severely limited but, most of the time, there is something about the feel and the sound of the SKs.

If you have never tried one, please do.

It's a Snap-On 3/8" drive Roto head ratchet. I used to think they were the goofiest **** I'd ever seen.........till I gave one an honest try. Now I seldom reach for much else in 3/8 drive. I even bought a 1/4" drive one. It's all the benefits of a flex head without ANY of the downsides. It allows some serious ninja tricks never possible before. Best kept secret in ratchets.

I can't say I have a go to ratchet.

+1...My go to ratchet, the closest one.:willy_nil Can't say I have a favorite, I'm more of a user than a sampler. So what I got is what I use.

1/4"= craftsman pro

3/8"= well, there is a couple. Flex head evercraft, craftsman pro ratchet.

1/2= old school S-K standard, another craftsman pro round handle standard

3/4= evercraft.... I know, but the warranty has never left me hang'n;)

Snap On FHLF80

And its big brother in 1/2. SHLF80A

The half is actually my favorite. It has a better action than all of my quarters. The 3/8 is only a couple weeks old. As a professional mechanic, I have had for the last several years a craftsman long flex 3/8 and thats it. Mainly for spark plugs and tight spots where a powered tool wont fit.

Just really dont use them as much now a days. Craftsman is wore out hence the new snap on. Still use it on spark plugs for the push button release.

For anything at home:

Armstrong 11-992 3/8".

It will eventually be the 11-994 locking flex, but I'm waiting for the 88 tooth models to be released.

Anything away from home:

The 3/8 or 1/4 60 tooth NAPA ratchets that came with the socket sets they discontinued for the Carlyle brand (which I here is also excellent). They're chinese, but not even close to the **** quality that stuff can be.

At present time I'm digging all the SO 80's I've purchased. No go to as of yet, but the 3/8" bent handle flex is heading that way. Only nostalgic, but missing the short proto's since my Father wrenched with those.

Unfortunately I haven't managed to have any luck with Carlyle tools. Both the 1/4 and 3/8 drive ratchets have a tendency to freeze up solid and not allow the tools to ratchet [emoji24]

Oh, wow- that's disappointing.

I was thinking they would make a good "second set" in place of my 20+ yr old craftsman rp's.

I may have missed a post here and there, bouncing between computers/phone/iPad, but I am a little surprised nobody has mentioned the Snappy FBF80 (I think) 3/8" drive flex bent handle...

Snap-On F936. Older 36 tooth ratchet. Same one that's my avatar photo. Bought it new in 2007 with a student set of tools. Old Bessie has a lot of war wounds and keeps on ticking. My second choice would be my long flex soft red handle dual 80.

I almost bought it, but there are some cases where it wont fit right compared to just straight flex.

Dont know how they would do it, but one that flipped around so to speak would be cool.

For instance it comes bent up away from the drive side, if you could get it to flip around so that the bend is towards the drive side it would go anywhere.
