One of the benefits to our planned retirement in southwestern Virginia (target: summer 2013) was the garage that came with the house we bought in 2003. This garage was built by a logger who used it for his heavy equipment. The building is 30 x 40 feet with a concrete floor and (bonus!) a grease pit at the back of the center bay.

Had a new asphalt-shingle roof put on in early 2004.

Initially it just had a single 20-amp circuit fed from the house, but when I acquired a Miller 300 welder, we upgraded the garage to its own dedicated 200-amp service with its own meter. And that pole in the background is the local trunk line crossing the property, with 3-phase power available for future upgrades.

Now it just needs some fresh paint. More photos to follow!

Well, it took some time to dig out the older photos of the tools that have gone into the garage; I hope to be able to post updates from more recent work. These are from 2008: the home-made router table:

And the rescued Delta 10" bandsaw found in the recycling pile along the road after 3 days of rain, now cleaned up; note Miller 300 welder lurking in back along with newly installed 200A panel to power same:

And the immaculate (other than table condition) Craftsman RAS with cabinet, found at yard sale in NJ for $100:

Next posts will cover some of the tractor attachments!
