Does anyone recall a Black and Decker reciprocating saw that was painted dark gold with a black rubber front grip? My father had one when I was growing up and seem to recall it being a B&D.

I got one from the AAFES PX IN 1981. Had it for a long time. It wasn’t really gold though. More like a mixture of very light brown highly tinted with yellow and green on the plastic case . Strange color for sure . I got a similar sander in 1982 . Iirc it was the standard color of all their non professional tools back then. It may have been all of them.
When did their Professional line come about anyways, late 80s? Those came in a very dark green and were [emoji383].

Do you happen to have it still? It was one of the first tools I learned how to use as a kid and I'm looking to buy one like it.

No. I used to do s lot of home body n paint work before getting better more appropriate tools. It went away 2 drills ago. My newer old B&D is an Orange one. I seldom use that anymore with deferring to my cordless Makita’s unless it’s a giant Hole I’ve got to hog in a plate. The big half inch job is a quarter again is big and weighs less than the old dead dead one but it’s somehow quite powerful. I don’t know how they did it getting the weight down that much. It works well though ,just loud and grindy sounding.
I have a buddy who does yard sales as a hobby since he retired. He sees a lot of those tools sitting there for a song. Also you might want want to check craigslist. If you set the search function up it will throw items in your mailbox for review. That’s an easy way to keep your eye out for such things. I doubt you’ll find them and pawn shops anymore because they’re too far out of date. They’re more something that pops up when grandpa passes on ,estate sales and such. Good luck on your quest..........
