Yea good plated tools ate pretty awesome. I have a gild plated Mac ratchet with pearl handles. It's at my grandpa's but it's be beautiful but not usable.

Those are cool but it's funny that Chrysler would choose Channellocks as an award for technicians. Nothing against Channellocks (i love 'em) but they aren't exactly a precision tool. Nothing says '80s Chrysler quality like a pair of Channellocks and a big 'ol hammer. Finesse that K car!

Hey, you guys really should take it easy on the K-cars and Chrysler in the 80's. I've owned several Omni/Horizons and a couple K-cars and every single one went over 350k miles. Two of the Omni's were over 400K miles before they got totaled by deer.

How many wreckers did you wear out dragging that POS Omni that far? Really! standing up for some of the crappiest cars chrysler ever made. I worked an Indie shop that had a warranty deal with chrysler. The K **** and Omni had very few redeeming features other than had a tendancy to catch fire every now and then.

I only speak from (indirect) personal experience, maybe once in a while (no doubt on a Wednesday or Thursday) the assembly line got it right. My dad had a Horizon (I think it was a 79). I remember one rainy Christmas we were driving to my grandparents house. I was riding in the back seat and woke up in the middle of the night to discover that my feet were wet. Dad didn't believe me until I showed him my soaking wet socks. When he stopped for gas he looked under the car and discovered that the rear seat floor pan was rusted out and you could see the underside of the carpet. I think the car was about 3 years old then. I remember the interior door handles were always snapping off when you tried to open the door and the vinyl trim on the doors started peeling off when the car was still fairly new. At least one of the windows wouldn't crank up and down. None of this seemed to dampen dad's love for the car, he insisted it was great right up until the head gasket blew at around 4 years and 80k.
