I would get it to actually use and destroy something collectible for someone else.

I would also put in gold teef while using it.

Must have been a corporate sales award; some sort of recognition from Snap-On. Of any particular use? Probably, not! I've seen a bunch of other gold plated stuff on ebay too; like early wrench sets with speeders etc. I'm assuming that the original dealer, was probably proud to receive this but then what do you do with it? Sell it to crazy Snapon collectors on ebay! :)

This is gonna sound crazy, but I'd rather have a brand new IM51 that is NOT gold plated. I'd be more tempted to put the gold plated gun to work and save the brand new regular gun back.

Back around 10 years ago IR made thousands of brass-plated 'golden-guns'. They were fully functional, and...well...pretty.

We made many more than people were interested in buying if I remember right. The other issue is the time involved in making them; extra care to insure no scratches, packaging,etc..... Yes I made a couple, and I even bought one, but I hope we don't do it again.

A quick pic if no one has seen one.

Kind of cool but I don't really like how it looks in the pictures.

Now the brass gun that IR guy has is really nice.

Sad to say- I don't own a compressor anymore... so it's for show.

I bought one of the Ray Evernham models too, then the wife decided I didn't need anymore.

Back in the day when my dad worked here AJ Foyt had a special impact made for him and toured the plant. Think dad still has the knife and autograph somewhere.
