Gold plated Mac Tools

I have just come into possession of a boat load of gold plated Mac Tools. I have mostly seen negative comments online. What's the deal? Are they worth anything? Do I just use them and get over it?

My mom bought a storage unit and there was a gold plated Snap-On impact wrench in a velvet lined wooden case.

She sold it on eBay to a guy in Japan for $1100.....

Half of those went for less than what the regular versions do.
