I came inside after my painting (black) project and rested my hand on the dryer. Whups! Some overspray made a shadow handprint on the white dryer. Not wanting to go just ten steps into the garage for mineral spirits, I looked around for a substitute and grabbed the GooGone. Just one swipe and the paint was GONE!!! That Goo Gone is great stuff.

Excellent product. Use it for removing marker prices on tools, sticker glues, etc.

I had an old leaking bottle with a small amount left. Made the mistake if setting it in a disposable plastic cup. Not sure how long it took but it shrunk or ate the bottom of the cup over time.

You're lucky. Your dryer must have porcelain coating. Goo Gone attacks many plastics and lots of painted surfaces. I used it once and it ruined what I was trying to clean. I tossed it in the garbage. I also know others who have used it, each had a bad outcome.

I'm sorry but if you use something that says right on the bottle that it removes paint and you use it on something painted, you can't really complain if it does its job.

Work well if you use it right. It will get paint off of a car with out ruining the car paint. I would wash it off as fast as possible.

Guys, large apologies are in order here. I'm bashing Goo Gone but I'm remembering Goof Off... That stuff is NASTY. It is NOT safe on cured paint as the instructions say.

Only thing I found that was easy to find at the store, economical, and did a amazing job removing burned on, aged, hardened, multiple coats of plasti-dip from a set of wheel I bought. It comes in big spray bottles, worked great.

I keep a spray bottle of Goo Gone on the edge of the laundry sink at all times.

You got me to thinking so I checked and the stuff we have isn't Goo gone either, it's called Lift Off.
I still prefer naphtha.

My pop got me on to De-Solv-It "Contractors Solvent" from Ace for sticky adhesive residue. Also works on spray foam residue. One bottle it a lifetime supply. Works great. I have yet to try it on overspray.

I keep a water bottle mixed with a squish of Dawn dish soap in a handy spot in the garage for quick clean ups like after using products like Goo Gone. I also have another water bottle of just water for quick rinse offs for the same reason.

I'm always using them, found they are very handy so I don't have to go trucking over to the sink, find a small container, etc, or go drag out the hose for a small rinse off chore.

Goof Off is mostly xylene. Any of these products should be tested first on an inconspicuous area before use. One useful substance is rubber cement thinner. It's heptane and a book dealer friend used it to remove adhesive from labels and stickers on books.

I have many different solvents on hand and can usually find one that works without affecting the surface of an object.

I've also used olive oil to take off glue residue from price tags and stickers. Works good!
