My advice is to stop throwing money at cheap *** tools and buy something that is worth owning. Why spend $75 on 5 broken *********** ratchets when $50 will get you a nice one that will last a life time?

You don't even need to spend $50, there are quite a few 1/2" ratchets for well under $30-40 that will easily last a lifetime. Gearwrench, Kobalt, SK, Craftsman, etc all make ratchets that can be picked up for around $30 (sometimes less), have lifetime warranties, and are easily replaced if something does happen to go wrong (which happens to all ratchets, not just the cheap ones).

Several months ago, on eBay, I picked up a Gearwrench 1/2" drive, full polish, 84 tooth ratchet (model 81304F) for $27 (with free shipping). Like others have mentioned, the deals are out there if you are a little patient.

As far as new, I'd find a USA made Allen.

If you are looking for used, it will be hard to beat an SK. Otherwise, hold out for an older, used Snap On.

+1 on the usa made allen! you can also go to menards and get a 1/2 inch masterforce ratchet which is made in usa by allen. I personally dont have any allen ratchets but have one of their 3/8 flex handles and i abuse it and it never lets up.:D

here you go! $26.99 for a brand new us made 1/2 you cant beat that
