Hello,

I am looking for some good 3/8 drive impact sockets sets only in metric.

I really like the Ingersoll Rand ones, but for some odd reason they don't include a 12mm which really makes me made since I will probably use that one the most.

I am looking for some deep, shallow, and universal. I don't need them all together and I would actually prefer them not to be as of now since I don't plan on buying them all at once.

As of right now I am mainly focused on universal and shallow ones.

Thanks!

I'm in love with the Matco ADV stuff. although my 3/8 metrics are snappy's i got on a buy one get one deal. the adv's are reasonably priced and i haven't met a matco guy who has had to waranty one yet. SK has some decent deals going at the moment too. (tooltopia, paint store tool fliers)

I also recommend Grey Pneumatic or Sunex, tooltopia is where I got my 3/8" metrics. I have regular as well as their new Duo sockets, very solid performers.

I really like the Snap-On impacts. The 3/8" ones are actually affordable at around $150-175 or so for a set, compared to the 1/2" drive stuff at triple that price.

Yeah, ya gotta watch out for the "thread police." It's a form of initiation we all have to put up with when first posting. :)

proto impact stuff is industrial grade, they are strong as hell. Expensive, but they are worth the money when we order them for work.

Not sure where the IR are made now, think they are the same as the gray and sunex. Good stuff.

I seen the Proto is cheaper than Snap on in 1/2" drive so I was thinking for the strength those would be a good choice. The 3/8" in snappy are reasonable.

The proto are really good impact socket. Most here do not work with proto allot. But at work we order proto all the time, as it is the simpler for us to get at grainger, and simpler to warranty then snap on stuff. They are both excellent choices.

I have several sets of IR 1/2" impact sockets; if I recall correctly they are made in Taiwan. They are well made and have a very nice finish. But I'm not sure how durable the finish would be under heavy use.

that is a nice set. I think they are made in taiwan. And are rebadge IR, look like they come form the same factory as my chicago pneumatic, which looks just like the gray. And yes the finish will wear over heavy uses.

I'm just a DIY type, so I don't use the impact sockets often. But I prefer the dull finish on my set of 3/8" craftsman and CP sockets over the smooth finish on the IR sockets.

Proto are good, i have a full set in 1/2" drive 10-28mm. I prefer my Craftsman and Matco's though for the easy read function.

As far as Snap-On, i have a few sizes lying around for specific tasks. They're a bit thinner than other brands but i've also found them to deform quickly.

Impact sockets is certainly an area where you dont have to spend much though, especially if you're just shopping to tool on your family vehicles.

you could posted on thread that already exist. :)

I respectfully disagree that is called necrophilia, I personally like seeing new threads about the same topics with new members, new opinions and new tools. And it only adds to the content value of this site.

Those IR impact sockets are very nice looking, I have had really good luck with my Cman USA impacts, but my next set will probably be Snappys.
