My wife and I saw this box last week for $328. Looked like a deal and after mulling it over I went back Saturday to get one. They had lowered it to $298,so I asked the guy to find me one in the box. He said they had 6, but 2 guys looked for 20 minutes and couldn't find any, so I asked about the display. Supervisor said they'd take $50 off, so I got it for $248! Helluva deal to me.

Did you guys see the 52 inch Chest/Combo Husky combo for 498? That's a crazy price..
Link

from looking at the chrome handles, it looks like the 40 inch combo your talking about. I reviewed it on my site Link

Only thing is if the metal is thin like the one I have then I would think it would be only good for home use

Yep I saw that one, and it is not on the HD website. Which makes me think they'll get one or two per store and if the managers don't hide them for themselves, then it'll be really hard to find one out on the floor that day unless you are one of the overnight campers...

This looks like a smokin' deal for a household garage. Man, I just bought the 42" HF bottom box for junior as a housewarming gift mid-summer. Otherwise, this top and bottom would be the ticket.

HF is a better box than the sale box, IMO. but a great deal for an upper and lower, no doubt.

cheap looking chest. I thought about getting that one somehow got itching over stainless steel husky...looking alot better and drawers apparently look garage shop type. Got both top and bottom altogether for 330 bucks.

I think I am going to pull the trigger on 1 of these. And sell my midnite blue craftsman chest and my 4 drawer HF tool cart on craigs list. Went down and checked them out in person today My HD has 5 of them in stock.

They had a bunch of cheap(er) husky tool storage in the christmas "aisle" (portion of the store). Even had a knock off of the wood top cart as well as selling the wood tops separately (didn't have a price on those though I assume in the 50 dollar range, might be cheaper). Mmmm...wood!:willy_nil

They seemed mediocre but cheap enough to disregard said mediocrity.

Oh and...they are fairly shallow but...lots of drawers. Probably good enough of a deal to overlook that.

I have this box. bought it on a whim several months back. the lid was dented so I got the box for 250. I was concerned with how flimsy the metal is at first but once I loaded my sockets up i no longer worry about it. ive got about 85% of all sockets up to 30mm in mine and the draw slides great. 1/4" shallow and deep MM and SAE, 3/8" shallow and deep MM and SAE, 1/2 shallow and deep MM and SAE and then 1/2" impacts shallow and deep mm and SAE. everything but 1/4 goes up to 30 mm and up to 1 1/8th.

be aware most of these Wide "good deal" husky boxes have very shallow drawers

these are not the skinny drawers that i usually see with the cheaper boxes. i played with one again today but talked myself out of it again.

I bought this for $298 and was allowed to use a Lowes coupon. The metal is very thin but for the money I have no complaints. I started loading the drawers and several are loaded up with a significant amount of tools with no issues. I would not use it in a professional setting but I am just a homeowner who likes to do his own stuff when possible. It is a significant amount of storage for the money and IMHO is a nice looking box.

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on two of these tomorrow on my way home from work.

Last year I bought the 27" top/bottom tool chest combo on black friday and have liked it a lot. I store most of my tools, even all the power/cordless ones too, and I have not had a single issue with it.

I was going to buy 2 HF US General boxes, but those are running $369 each, or $349 if you have a coupon. These Husky boxes would save me roughly $200.

Expanding my tool collection necessitates a larger box, and coming in at 19K cu. inches each, it has a lot of room.

Sorry but your Black Friday link above (red one) is dead as message says pulled due to LEGAL reasons.

Also, your plug for your own review seems to have continuing spelling problem calling the US General 44" roller tool box instead a:
. . . . . . Harbor Fright 44" . . . .

Come on, that Husky box is **** compared to US General roller. Flimsy Husky box that is shallow drawers is NO COMPARISON to solid US General box.

Seems more evident now that you are ADVERTISING for Husky ??? :dunno:

Lol  I wish I was advertising for Husky could use the money... so I could buy the Harbor Fright 44" box. I just bought it because it was a good price. I reviewed it, mind you it was an 8 minute review to show people the chest, so they could make their own decision whether to buy it. That was why I grabbed the metal drawers and showed people how much they flexed, just trying to help people out. It’s not like all the adsense advertisement is going to make me rich. Might help me buy an extra tool once a year but that’s it, defiantly not make me rich. If you think its junk, then it’s a simple decision for you, just don’t buy it. I’m just not going to knock someone down if they did buy it because it was all they could afford. Do I which I had the Harbor Freight heck yea, but my Husky works for me.

Since I've been on this site, it is obvious there are a lot of tool snobs poking jabs at anything not professional grade. Truth is most consumers don't need professional quality tool storage for home use and can't justify spending the extra coin for DIY use.

I thought the youtube review was very good information.

Thank You Tadwolfe, I thought this forum was full of mature people, helping each other out. I don't know how many times I've taken an item I've bought apart because a member of this board has asked me for more info on it. They asked me if I could take more pictures of a tool I own so they could see if it would suit their needs. An example of that was the Ingersoll Rand closeout that "srmofo" posted online a while back. Someone on his tread asked if I could take the pressure gauge off the regulator, so he could see if he could put in a different gauge. So I did and he decided it was not for him. Funny thing is some people try to bash people because they have nothing better to do. That's fine by me, guess that's just the way things are. Oh well.:dunno:

Guess the "picture" is getting clearer . . . .you're not specifically "advertising" for Husky . . . . . . just Advertsing your

That tells me where my mouse won't be clicking. ;)

With all your links being dead . . . . except . . . . your "tool review" then it's actually crystal clear!!

I'm no frequent customer at Harbor Freight (actually bought my 44" roller at pawn shop), but it's pretty obvious how you spell their name (see visual aid below of website). Also, pretty obvious that 44" toolbox 13 drawer is branded US General (see pic below). With coupon, the $349 current price works out to $26.85/drawer.

. . . back to regular programming . . .
OP (Ledman 70) did get a nice deal for $248 ($298 less $50 markdown) to get 10 drawers of toolbox with his 40" Husky floor model . . . . thus that's $25 a drawer (see pic below).
Congrats and hope it works out for you.

Your posts make me want to scratch out my eyes. There is such a thing as too much formatting.

Price per drawer is a weird thing to look at, too. Price per cubic inch makes more sense...or price per pound of weight capacity.

Anyway, Husky 40" Box = thin steel fine for people who won't be moving it/really loading it, HF 44" box = professional quality. That's all that anyone needs to say.

OR drawer style. I for one have alot of long tools, so all the boxes with one full width drawer are at the bottom for the list.

Isn't people buying and reviewing products what we want and encourage on this website??

Archirelic I'm not going to worry about it, easy talking trash behind a computer, different story if it was face to face. When I get the 46" Husky rolling chest I'll take that one apart and do a review on it, video and all. He can comeback and comment on it when I do, whatever. :headscrat
The Garage Journal also has ad links, and when I see one on the main page that interests me, I click on it check it out. If that helps support this great website then that's even better.

Oh and by the way one dead link not links in plural, learn to count...If I need a spell checker, he needs a calculator....:D

i like the harbor freight one myself, but a lot of guys like a top box and for a combo price for the average homeowner..... you get a top and bottom box for 50 bucks less than the harbor freight bottom only. thats just how some people look at it, regardless of drawers, or price break down per drawer.

You know whats nuts, that someone on Craiglist are selling them on the cheap 80 bucks. This guy is selling 26 pallets / 130 boxes for 7,900 bucks. Link

Someone else in California is selling them for 200 each Link

Very strange? don't know if they are stolen, or what.

Someone on this forum bought four of them. These truck deals are all damaged units. Good deal if they let you open the boxes; not so good if they don't.

I wonder if they stacked them to high and crushed them? I know some people were saying that the boxes looked good when they brought them at HD then when they opened it at home it was crushed.. I got lucky I didn't have to take mine back to Home Depot, for a replacement.

I have the big Husky in my tool room, among others. Its a very nice box for what I use it for. Its completely full but not loaded heavy. It is not my main box but I do go into it every time I work on something. It doesn't get moved or banged around. I do not abuse it in any way. It looks nice, does what I want, and was cheap. Win for me.
