When my grandmother passed away, my dad and I were going through the garage and found this vise that my grandfather once had. I am in the middle of giving it a fresh coat of paint.
I dont know much about vise's, just wondering if this was a good one or cheap one?

Thanks

Regardless of maker or country of origin, there are things about a shop vise that greatly affect its value. One is the width of the jaws as well as how wide they open. Another is the weight of the vise. Also, the condition of the vise is important. Then there is the question of whether it swivels and if so does it have one clamping bolt or two, and what type of swivel it has.

Looking at your vise, I can't tell a lot from the picture. I'm always leery of "made by" as it's often an indicator of a cheaper, lower quality product.

Snap-On's bench vises are also made by Wilton. Even the Chinese-made Wilton that is rebranded as a Craftsman gets good reviews from the guys who own them.
