Awesome project with lots of potential. Glad you didn't just tear it down. Looking forward to seeing it after you power wash it. Will you take the same approach to the inside? Cleaned up with some new lights, I suspect it will look as though it was well kept these last 25 years.

Even if it was a lot of work, I have to say I am envious. Nothing like that to be had around here.

There hasn't been a lot done. I have straightened and cleaned the main barn, removed all the old stalls, removed the possum bones( maybe that is what was stinking in the spring). I haven't had a ton of time for the barn. The township finally got their part of the sewer project done. It was time to do mine :) I rented a backhoe and connected to the sewer. While we had the backhoe there we cleared a lot of the brush and trees in front f the barn. It is looking better but still a ways to go. I will get some pics when I am home this weekend.

If you just want to make it a bit more weathertight but still have some light I've had some success in the past with using heavy gauge polythene sheeting (the translucent stuff people use for groundsheets or even as waterproof membrane under concrete slab here) just make a simple 2" x 2" timber frame to fit snug in each window, warp some plastic around the frame and staple onto the back side and then screw the frame into the opening, lets some light in and keeps the worst of the weather out, if the windows are big, add some cross pieces for some extra support. Can be made out of salvaged timber, go skip (dumpster) diving on construction sites! Might at least make one area weatherproof enough to keep supplies etc dry over the winter. It won't keep people out obviously, if thats an issue then boarding up with OSB is the only answer.
