So ive spent my whole life using crappy drill bits and im only 20 and realize it *****. So im going to try to start putting together a good set of drill bits or two. I would appreciate any suggestions on brands and even material or type. Thanks guys. And im sure this has been asked before but search didn't turn up much.

Dakota Sales out of Wyndmere, North Dakota has a lifetime warranty 135 degree split point set they sell

it's about $150 or so for a 1/64 to 1/2 inch set by 64ths increments

LIFETIME Warranty - seems to me their bits will drill thru like 60 on the rockwell scale if I recall correctly - split point eliminates need for centerpunching and bit wandering

they also have larger sizes up to 1" I believe -

I'd recommend them since I have a set - I've broken a few of the smaller ones, and no problems w/ warranty -

not sure if they have a website or not - I can get you a phone number / address if you want - post here if so

I work as a machinist for a living, and my personal preference is Triumph "Thunderbits". Most of the name brand (Triumph, Precision [PTD], Chicago-Latrobe [C-L] American Made HSS or Cobalt bits are excellent quality. I prefer the 135deg split point bits, but a case can be made for the standard 118 deg too. Jobber (standard) length is a good general purpose length. You can expect to pay at least $50 for a decent 29 pc. (1/16-1/2 x 1/16ths) set. I am looking at the 29 pc reduced shank Thunderbits in the current Enco sale catalog for $79 for my home shop.
