Good budget 220v heater?

My 2 car garage is under the house so the ceiling is insulated. The doors are insulated. Both side walls are cinderblock and covered in earth (garage is on basement level).

My electric panel is on the other side of wall, so easy to run 220v power. I have available circuits as the house was converted to natural gas- so I have the old stove and water heater circuit breakers not in use.

What's a decent electric heater? Northern has a $80 ceiling mount, but I want to see if they're anything better... I'm only going to run it while using the garage as a workshop after pulling the car out.

Baseboard electrics are cheap. A four ft segment is roughly 1,000 watts which translates to approximately 3,400 BTU. Down side is no fan.

If you go down this route, consider 250 watts per ft of heater and 3.41 BTU per watt.

I'm actually liking this one a lot more. Very positive reviews about the high CFM fan helping warm up a large area like a garage. It's also portable (I'm military and move a lot). I can easily wire up a 220v outlet in my garage.

See my post for the one I just got. It's similar to the red one posted above, only it's meant to be hardwired and mounted. It warms my 2 car garage and shop area (588sqft) decently. I kept it on LOW overnight and came out to a 45* degree garage when it was 12* outside.

It's on sale at LM Fleet for $109. I got mine at Northern Tool for $99, but they appear sold out.

The budget part of electric heaters is the heater itself........the budget breaker is operating the heater in most areas. ( obviously varies greatly by your electric rates)

I checked my local rates for kilowatt hour. 5600 watts is 13 cents an hour. Not bad for how little I will use it.

I use a 3,000 watt radiant heater to heat my 24 x 24 garage/shop. full time now, at about 4.9 cents a kw. The nice thing is when I turn it up I am warm, I don't have to wait for an hour or two to warm up the air, and all the tools and things are still cold. Or feel the heat in a few minutes, the things in the area start becoming warm, and no noise, or cold breeze, did I mention no noise, just warm.

I installed a Farenheat 5000 watt heater that I got on Amazon for about $250. I'm heating a decently insulated 3 car garage. (About 750 sq ft). It's kept it shirtsleeve warm when temps were in the teens. Electric rates are more reasonable in the Pacific Northwest than many places. It was a great solution here.

well found the Comfort Zone 5k Unit online at Northern Tool on sale for $99.00 plus Free shipping to store, but that is 1-2 week delivery vs ground for $14 gets it to me in 2-4 days.

Then there is a promo coupon 202911 for $20 off of $100 order, so add in a clearance dollar item to hit $100 and get heater for $80 plus tax, shipping, etc... so delivered to my door is Just under $100 or to Store $86 !! great deal if you ask me !!

also can get them from L & M Fleet Supply for $109
They also carry the bigger 7500w version !! requires more power as well

I've got the red heater that zimm 17 shared. Can't say enough about it! It is absolutely wonderful! I use it to heat my small attached garage and it does in very quick order

Northern tool in Chattanooga TN has these on clearance for $59.

They're not on the website anywhere that I can find.

I bought 2 & used the $20 off $100 coupon & out the door for $108 including tax.

After a quick trip by Lowes for the parts I needed to make a short pigtail to adapt my welder outlets to the 30 amp style plugs, I am working in my shop in a T-shirt.
600 sq ft Shop was 35 deg @ noon, 60 deg an hour later & they've been cycling about 10 minutes every hour afterwards
