I just saw a Quincy QE-5 in CL - will call tomorrow. It's a 60 gal vertical tank with a 5hp single phase motor. Asking $400. Sounds good to me. The ad says compressor not hooked up. My plan will be to disassemble, clean, rebuild and make it look brand new.

What cha' think?

Tom

Not a QR, but still a nice setup for $400. Hope you get it.
Check the tank. Make sure it's been drained daily.

That is a great compressor. I have the same one. I bought mine new when I finished my shop in 1995 and paid a little over $1100.00. I like it because it has a cast iron pump and is a dual stage. I had a few problems with condensation a few years ago when I was bead blasting and using a large amount of air so I had a transmission cooler from a motorcoach that I had replaced and had it repaired and hot tanked. I installed it on the backside of the fan cage so the hot compressed air coming out of the compressor gets routed through the heat exchanger before entering the tank. That helped a lot. I drain my tank once a week and change the compressor oil every six months and it still looks and performs like new. Enjoy, Mike.
