While hitting up Lowe's, I ran across a cart of lighting marked 75% off. Among them were a stack of Utilitech 4 ft, 4 bulb wrap lights. Here is the link to the Lowe's site.

They have electronic ballasts, use T-8 bulbs and came out to about $12.50 each. They have oak endcaps, but I can always paint them if I don't like how they look in my garage. But for $50 to get four of them, I felt I couldn't pass them up.

So, is it as good of a find as I think?

"Utilitech" is like the skull & crossbones namely a warning to stay away or be really cautious, IMHO, STAY AWAY!

I don't know... I've had the black Utilitech 2 bulb T8 fixtures with electronic ballasts. They're $12 each at Lowes. I have 12 fixtures and never had a problem.

I consider that a good price. I buy my lights at Menards and they sell a similar 4' fixture. I wait for a sale and pick them up then. On sale I can get them for $12-15 each. I have had no problems with their fixtures yet, and I've been using some of them for 5-6 years. I'll know in another 15 years if they will last.

Now I just need to figure to which bulbs to get for them. I also need to get them wired and installed before the summer sun makes the attic tough to move around in.

The Utilitech bulbs are the cheapest. Even if you don't need 40+, buy a whole case... it'll end up costing less than if you bought individual bulbs, and you'll have lots of extras.

I looked at some 5000k Philips bulbs. They are going to cost more than the fixtures themselves. I guess there is a drawback to buying four bulb fixtures.
