Good deal on this compressor?

Using the classic "search craigslist for misspellings" technique, I cam across this listing: http://modesto.craigslist.org/tls/4275806546.html

I'm looking for a compressor to have in my garage/hobby fab shop. I'm looking to run hand air tools, initially, and add bead blaster in the not too distant future.

Think this is a good deal? It'll cost me about $45 in gas and the better half of a day's worth of time to go get it.

The ***** selling this thing can't even take a picture of the complete unit??

I wonder if he's hiding the fact that it could be an oiless unit.

That would be the first question I'd ask before wasting time looking at it.

If it's cast iron/oil lubricated then it's a good deal. If it's oiless/direct drive then keep looking.

It is definitely an oil filled pump, it looks like a Campbell VT6275. We sell that compressor factory reconditioned with a one year warranty for $399, I just loaded one up for a customer.
He's also throwing in a hose and some air tools, so it is your call. If he will come down a bit, and he has the receipt without his name on it, I think you could do a lot worse.

Looks like he is willing to take $300 for it. If he still has it this weekend I'll probably drive out and get it.

That's a good price. See if he will give you the original receipt. I think they have a 3 year warranty.

(it's not oiless)

I've seen another brand compressor with that same pump on it (from as much as I can tell)... It's a small cheap pump with I think like a 3HP motor... Still, it's a good step up from a little portable 20 gallon or smaller. For $300 you can't really go wrong. If it doesn't suit you I'm sure you could sell it for that or more...
