I have a chance to pick up six pallets of retaining wall blocks all 6 for $350. The add says between 120 t0 150 sq. They are the Pisa II interlocking blocks. I have to pay my excavator to pick them up. The guy I'm getting them from says there is about $1000 worth of block there. Is this a good deal?

I have to get with the excavator to see what the cost will be. $250? I don't want to lowball him and get him pi$$ed at me then he wont sell them to me. There is another add that has about 200 sq for $1000 I may beat him up a little Maybe $300 going to use the whole "I gotta pay someone to go get them" routine.

Contractor price on this block is either $3.45 ea (deliver from factory) or $3.95 ea (pick up at distributor) around here. There are 60 blocks/pallet of the Pisa2 standard blocks (6" x 12" x 8" tapered units). That would put a contractor's cost for new between $1240 and $1420 plus tax... I'd say it's a good deal.

I have done similar with used blocks- the only bad part is it may take a bit more time to pressure wash them, etc... but it maybe added an hour or two to the last time I re-used some block.
