the first one is unique, ive owned a lot of boxes in my time but ive never even seen that box in person. ive seen pictures of them in old catalogs. i might be tempted, but for that price all the drawers and slides would have to be in working order with no flaws. i own the box in the second picture. i use it as my main box at home. lots of room, no problems with it at all and i use the **** out of it. in my opinion it would be worth the money if all drawers operate smoothly.

First box, as mentioned above it is a very specific box. IMHO a bit high, but if you needed THAT box, well :dunno: For a general tool box, No.

The second box is a standard KR537. I'd say it is a good/fair deal. Not a "you ****" but also not a "you got taken" price. It looks very clean from the pics, but the "Use to be black" and the back panel is kinda worrysome. Also looksl ike the lid holds are broken. :dunno:

If you were looking for an entire setup. I think this would be a better deal

In my area that is reasonable money on both. That valve seat grinding box is in really good shape it looks like, would make a good machinist box by the looks.

of all those CL postings, i'd be looking at the 3 piece combo with the rick mears kr537.

word of "caution", that set with the mid box is TALL

i'm 6' and can barely see in the top drawer...

I have the same box as the one in the second listing. It was the first box my dealer ever sold when he got into the business back in 1976 ( I bought it used from him in the mid 90's and I'm only the second owner) and it's still holding up great.

Got a box just like the bottom one here in NY for $100 and that is a steal here in this state!

those are both pretty good deals. I would buy the second one in a heart beat.

Ain't you in AZ? :headscrat Yea that is a pretty good deal in my opinion. However as Crew said above, that middle box makes the top ~70" tall. :eek:

Ya I saw that first one, but I dont have a truck. I just asked a buddy though, he said hed help me bring it home. I'm gonna email the guy right now see if he'll hold it for a little bit.

Getting better. Just depends on the in person condition. The fact that it has been painted and the lid supports are broken, doesn't give a whole lot of confidence that the PO took real good care of it. That 3 piece setup would be a heck of a box for $500. But as Crew said above, I hope you are tall, because that middle box makes the top compartment ~70" off the ground. I have the more modern version of that box, but same dimensions and without the middle box. It is ~56" from the floor to the top compartment which I find to be perfect. Then again I am rather vertically challenged at 5'7" so. YMMV

You could always take the middle box out and set it on a bench or the like. :beer: Or if you needed more storage, take the middle out, set it on a bench and then get that second 537 to set on top of the middle that is on the bench. If you do buy them, make sure you bring help. They are very heavy to move by yourself.

I saw that box setup too but didnt see a price lol didnt read it all. dang 350 is pretty damn
good. Im near LA though. I wonder if my buddy would drive out there haha
