wondering what everyones tool dealers are like, currently mine **** never see snap on or cornwell , they dont like to come by for the afternoon shift
i now use the matco web site to order tools and take care of warrenty issues.
now at the last place i worked the snap on guy was 1st rate was there every week and at xmas he gave out coats , big heavy winter coats .
hell i got 3 of them and t-shirts he was always givin those away
pens , screwdrivers ,calenders
cornwell guy he was ok , there every week , but did not like to deal on prices
and at xmas he gave out a 10.00 off coupon if you spent 50.00 , that was it nothing else
90% of my tools are snap on and i like em but , that could easily have been any other brand if they would just deal a little bit or give away stuff some times ...
i realize the snap on guy was the exception to the rule , but i spent money and he made money ...
i havent seen a tool truck in a year ....there loss not mine

my snap on driver is fantastic, always ready to deal, if I need something I can call him and he will do his best to get it to me that day. fantastic guy, the past ones have been not good

matco driver is also decent, willing to deal, not his fault but Matco's prices have substantially skyrocketed in the last couple years, a few years ago they used to be quite a bit cheaper than Snap On but now they are higher on many things. do not know if anyone else has noticed this? I did because I used to buy mostly Matco stuff

Mac driver went out of business maybe a year ago, he was a good dealer but a very small amount of inventory, which was sad because I liked alot of MAC's offerings,

we do not have cornwell or SK in our part of town

My SnapOn dealer has a lot of stuff on his truck although I have never been on it. I hear it is a mess inside. Hes a nice older man probably in his 50's and is very respectful of everyone although his deals aren't the greatest. I still like buying off of him because he has never denied me warranty, and is very respectful of the mechanics. If one of us is very busy he will find someone else to talk to until some free time comes about.

My Mac dealer is a salesman. High pressure is what he lives off of, and if he wants to sell something he will find the right price to move his tools. He is a nice guy, and also personable, but again he is all about selling. He does do favors for me once in a while like move my box, and warranty things i bought off of other people, but he carrys the same brand.

We used to have a Cornwell dealer, but he went out of business. I don't want to discourage anyone from being a tool dealer, but if you don't have money to start, please dont sell tools. This guy had NOTHING on the truck. No ratchets, sockets, wrenches, no hard line tools except for a few things. He was a very nice guy though and brought us drinks on hot days. :) I bought a few specialty tools of of him.

My snap on guy is fairly new but has been good to work with. Been through several Mac guys, 1st one was great, would deal, warranty and always interesting and fun. Last three weren't as good and haven't seen one in a year.

Matco and Cornwell guy don't stop here.

I have a customer who has a large room full of boxes and tools. He said when he became a mechanic 25 years ago he made a decision to deal with one brand. He noticed there was always a Snap on truck around so that is what he chose. Considering I have rarely been without a snap on dealer, I think he may have been right.

When I worked in a small engine repair shop years ago a Snap-On guy once told me over the phone that it wasn't worth his time and effort to stop by our shop since none of us working there would ever buy very much tools and that he could make more money off of his automotive mechanic customers. He ranted on for a couple minutes more but I didn't even let him finish talking and just hung up on him. Called MAC, he basicially said the same thing except more politely. Luckily there was both a small specialty tool store and a Sears near my home, and both a NAPA autoparts store and an Ace Hardware very near our shop. Some specialized tool I'd order from a Grainger catalog or through the specialty tool store. It was no surprise that everyone at the shop had a mix-match of various tools and everyone had a lot of Craftsman stuff.

Funny thing is that I had a neighbor at the time who was a crooked cop and a diehard hobby mechanic. I'd see a Snap-On truck stop buy at least twice a week in the early evenings and hand out. Evidently it was well worth the tool guys time to get in good with a dirty cop. That Snap-On guy must have had a lot of speeding tickets that were conveniently taken care of for him in exchange for tools. :headscrat

Thought I had a good Snap-on dealer. Seems like he dropped off the edge of the earth although haven't seen his obit. I'll bet if I wanted to buy a 20k box that he'd be here in no time.Thinkin about sendin a email just to F**k with him a little.

I have a real good Cornwell dealer, never had a good Snap-on dealer, never had a Matco dealer, the old MAC dealer was good until he went under.

Yep, no social interactions required! And when I buy local, it's usually from a big box store.

I like the back-and-forth ******** of the tool truck. I first bought off my SO dealer in 1991 and started back up again about the time I first logged on here.

He's been the dealer in town for about 30+ years.

I have had the same SO dealer for 23 years, and he has always been a good dealer. Always cuts me a deal.

The local Mac dealer is a pr***, I don't deal with him.

I haven’t see a Cornwell truck in over 10 years.

Local Matco dealer is good guy, I just don't buy that much from Matco.
