Good Grinding (clear) face mask?

Is there a grinding face shield that doesn't use that cheezy plastic hardware to allow the up and down swivel of the face plate? I can't seem to find a mask from HF to McMasCarr at any price that uses anything but the same plastic stuff.

Modifying mine to use a #10 bolt and nylock nut doesn't seem to do the trick. It's the plastic indexing thing in the middle that poops out and allows the mask to fall.

Any recommendations?

Where do you get a welding helmet that will fit over the respirators?? The only ones l can find are too narrow. I'm talking about the instant on helmets.
Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread, but l figure other guys have the same question.

We have the full framed UVEX at work and it is way better then the standard flimsy feeling grinding shields. Makes you feel a little better about wearing one

Miller makes a low profile one designed to go under welding helmets. Not horrifically expensive, either.

I just bought a Hobart face shield from Tractor Supply. It has the list lock adjustments on it like a welding helmet. The thing I dislike is the very light green tint on it, but after using it a few times it doesn't bother me. At least I can tighten it and it will stay. It was $20 if I remember correctly. However I do like the looks of that UVEX and one may be in my future soon!!

Does the Uvex have plastic hardware in the swivel gizmo? I can't tell from the pics on Amazon.

Sgt Lumpy

Yeah but it's good quality stuff.

I've beat on mine for four years. Brought it back when I first started a landscaping/maintence job and was spending days and days on a weedeater. It was a face saver. Then once I moved on from that job I dropped a shade 5 shield in it and now it's my O/A torch shield.

I bought a uvex after discovering them on this site. Bought off amazon.

I love mine. Don't know how I survived without it.

Years with the Uvex, here. I don't care if it's plastic or titanium, so long as it works. And it works.
