Good hex bit socket set?

I'm sure there's tons of these out there, but anything that's a good deal/value?

All of my tools are a combination of Gearwrench, Bahco, and USA Craftsman.

I'm ok with Taiwan for COO (Gearwrench) but if there's a good set/value for USA or Spanish/German I'm all about it.

Any ideas?

I started off looking for a decent deal on Cripe, but didn't find much.

What sizes are standard that someone needs?

I just recently got this set from fox run tools:

ATD-13783

The coo is Taiwan, the bits are made from S2 steel, and my set is pretty damn near flawless. I've already used about half a dozen of them on various projects around the home and they are tough!

I have these

I use the hell out of them, and even run em on an impact at times and they work fine. Are scheap as dirt and finished pretty well too.

I have these as well. I originally got them as a backup set but they work so well that they were moved into the primary set and I love them for the price

Hmmmm, this seems like a great deal.

Their metric set is missing to many sized for my needs. I got a 7 pc powerbuilt set for 5 dollars when pepboys switch vendor. End up having to build out the missing ones with titan so I had the sizes I need for work on my bikes and the cars.

I bought the long version of the HF ones and I got some candy-caining going on from torquing my head studs. Probably acceptable to just have laying around for when you need them but if I could go back in time I would just save my money for something else. Probably a Proto 10mm hex and not the whole set.

8 and 10mm seem to be the two most common on vehicles i've encountered. VIM makes the best sets for the money. Any sizes you plan on abusing or using a lot Snap-On probably isnt a bad idea. You can purchase a spare bit (takes a minute to punch a broken one out and install a new one) and keep working and then warranty out the broken one. Wash rinse repeat.

Also for what its worth stubby sets are GREAT for plugs and bolts, you'll rarely break that style. These are stubbies. Most of its in the fastener, the rest is reinforced by the socket, very little twist/flex to them.

If you can find a dealer, which is usually pretty hard, cornwell makes what I'd consider to be the best hex bits on the market based on quality/price. I've had my 9/32 ball end on the end of a 1/2 breaker bar and didn't break it, but those were dire circumstances. If you can't get cornwell, craftsman is a solid choice. We use them on impacts at work and they hold up, plus the warranty is really painless.

I have a mix of Craftsman, Gearwrench, and another set of some I can't remember. I do a lot with motorcycles/atv's, and it seems like they are nothing but allens!

It is a very limited set. Missing allot of sizes.

Yes my mistake. I got the 2 9-piece sets and they cover pretty much any size you need. If you need smaller, then use a standard hex key. You'll break/bend the smaller ones on a ratchet.

Any suggestions for a good impact grade set? ... Was looking at Sunex stubby set.

Those VIM are nice. Another good set for a decent price is Wiha. See amazon or Wihas site. I think my strongest ones are some 1/2" drive one piece Hazets. A set of those would be expensive though, and the bit wouldn't be replaceable if your ever could wear it out.

And these 1/4 are nice too.

STAHLWILLE!

My hex wrenches and hex sockets are the most often used tools in my box (I work on textile machinery). Starting out, I made the mistake of going cheap. Asked my supervisor what to get after my HF sockets started to wear -- he said he'd through his catalogs. A set specifically for my job (1/2 drive 8mm, 10, 14, 15, 19) was in my locker the next morning. 'Thanks' I say, 'I'm getting close to retiring anyway'. Having a cool boss is great.

they are 13.99 for the 9 pc set. So 28 dollars for sae and metric. And if you can get a 20% off coupon, it will drop one of the sets 20%.
