Good ideas for ABOVE compressor room?

I've got 12' ceilings and I'm considering not making the compressor room full-height
Just wondering if anyone has done anything interesting with the space above a compressor room before, or has any ideas?

If the compressor room/closet were to be 4' high inside, ~4'6" outside, you would have ~7'6" to play with above.

Elevated sitting area?
A landing for stairs that turn back on themselves? (I've got light limited storage in the attic, so stairs really aren't necessary)
Just storage?

I elevated the compressor, and made storage below, where it's more accessible. How often do you have to put your hands on the compressor?

Having the compressor sitting higher might be a good option too
Any issues with vibration when it's on wood rather than concrete?

You need to make the compressor room full height. Ground level floor space really needs to be usable. The the remaining 3-4 feet will be a storage area. Think rubbermaid tubs, or lumber.

1st make sure there is PLENTY of fresh air flow for the compressor so you don't burn it up boxing it in...

2nd if I had that space I would put my refridgerated dryer (or any other dryer setup you might have) in that space above it.

Also could build a cabinet above it to store things you don't use often, for me it would be paint cans... I would love to get them out of my common use cabinets and up out of the way so they are there when I need them but out of the way when I don't.

My compressor/water heater closet is adjacent to my bathroom, total "block" is ~5'Wx9'Dx8'T, outside dimensions. My ceiling is 11', leaving a pretty decent storage platform for for stick & sheet lumber, metal & plastic pipe/conduit, etc. Fairly handy for lighter stuff, wouldn't be great for heavy stuff.
