Good info re Epoxy Master

I just got off the line with them re their product. It's a good 100% solids epoxy and is probably the way I'll go. One kit does 500 ft^2 and costs $295 plus $44 shipping from them. Here's what I learned that is extra info. Their site only shows 3 colors - 2 greys and a tan. But they really have 16 colors and they're going to email me a scanned color chart. ALso, you can get this only in light grey from Costco for $240 per kit. So if you're happy with the color, you can save $100 per kit by buying from Costco. Here's the 3rd piece of good info; I looked at the Costco site reviews and there's a negative one at the end. The guy at Epoxy Master said that is a competitor dissing them and they're have the negative review removed because it's phony - it was posted on 7/16 and they didn't ship any of their product to Costco until after 7/16, so there's no way it can be real! (And dog pee can't stain or harm their product). They just did an airplane hanger with their product yesterday - this is tough commercial quality stuff.

You do not need a clear coat with this stuff. My garage looks like glass using Epoxy Master. A friend who used the waterbased stuff needed a clear coat so I repeat, epoxy master is a high gloss product no clear coat needed.

but isn't it recommended to apply an extra layer of clear coat if you use flake chips?

SUPERCOAT is very glossy... And it is a waterborne epoxy (and breathable). We sell a couple of different glaze coats as well and recommend them if you are using the decorative flakes. Not only do they seal in the flakes (thereby making it easier to clean the floor), but the flakes are not as glossy as our epoxy and the clear coat gives a nice, even sheen across the floor. Plus, it really brings out the color in the flakes (especially the black ones).

The glaze coat also provides an extra layer of protection to the floor.

Epoxy Master holding up well, it did yellow a bit about 8 inches on the outside of the garage door. other than that no problems.

I also purchased the epoxymaster kit for my garage floor and was very disappointed in its durability. When I first completed the floor it looked excellent. After a few weeks it no longer looked so good. The floor was covered with scratches that had been caused by sweeping it with a normal broom and rolling a shop vac over it. When I contacted the business I was told it will scratch just like a car finish. I purchased this kit due to how durable I thought it was going to be. I wanted a solid floor covering, not an easily scratched car finish. The website states heavy objects dragged across the floor will scratch it. In my experience just about everything that touches the floor will scratch it. I would not recommend this product if you intend to do any type of work in your garage. It might be good for just walking on and cleaning with a microfiber duster, but doesn't seem to hold up under anything more.

as a full time professional in the epoxy industry for over 20 years, I reviewed the site mentions. I saw several red flags. Their comparisons are their high solids epoxy vs water based floor epoxies. This is like comparing beer against soda. Guess which one is the beer?

Secondly they do not have access to a product data sheet or the necessary and required MSDS (material data safety sheet). Internet vendors, like this one, do this so that industry professionals like myself, cannot seriously evaluate their product and get a clue as it if it is 'good stuff' or trash that only gets sold to unsuspecting buyers on the internet or in cheap box stores.

That said, most epoxies, from the best to the worst, will generally get the job done. It is an apples to apples comparison (not apples to oranges). Also most problems with epoxy floors comes not from the epoxy but rather issues associated with the surface or the surface preparation - meaning if you have problems the epoxy vendor is not at fault.

I had the same experience. I even redid my floor with Epoxymaster (per their recommendation) and its still *****. I will never epoxy another floor again. I actually work in my garage and it won't stand up to dropped sockets from waist high.

Say it aint so.
I just epoxied a labour intensive garage with epoxymaster. I noticed the black squares showing scratches as i gently vacuumed the dust in preparation for next steps.
I did apply the clear coat after buffing. I hope this goes far to help eliminate disfigurement

Thought I'd update.
Yes, the clear coat did hide the small scratches.
However it doesn't protect the epoxy any better than just the epoxy itself from scratching.
OH the horror seeing how easily the floor scratches after spending so much time and money to achieve this soon fleeting shiny perfect surface.
