What non halogen work lights do you guys recommend? Halogen gives off great light, but they get extremely hot. What portable lights do you guys recommend? I recently checked out the Milwaukee true view at the home depot display, but they are expensive. I just want a light that it's bright enough to work at night if need be, and not give of that "bluish" colored light that so many leds give.

I have 4 of the Snap On LED Work lights and they work awesome. They are worth every penny imo.

If you mean construction type portable lighting check out these:

Hands down the best job site lighting I've used. I have the 85 watt fluorescent and the 175 watt metal halide. Both provide excellent lighting....the only downside is if the MH gets turned off it needs to cool down for about 5 min before restarting. Both operate cooler than halogen. So much more stable than all of the cheesy telescoping stands on the halogens that are a pita to set up and move/store. All my old halogens went to Habitat restore when I got these.

I prefer fluorescent over LED, easier on the eyes it seems. We make our own lights out of dual tube, 4' or 5' fittings on home made timber stands. I have a few normal work lights for crawl spaces or lofts as well.

Costco snap on led flood light.. (2000 lumen) Conversation over. This is a $29 light mounted on a $19 tripod.. Find a better one for less and I'll pay your mortgage for a month..

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I love the light of Halogen, but they are so uncomfortably hot! Hopefully i'll be happy with the light they give off.

For portable situations, the new small Craftsman worklight for like $5 gives off a lot of light. If you need to get in a small space, it might be handy to have around along with the larger work light.

Do you have a link? I can't find those on craftsman or Sears website.

Then I think you're going to have to pay a little.

I have the original M18 floodlight, and could not be happier with the quality of the light.

I just bought 4 of the Snap On lights from Costco last week, so they had them then. Maybe they are not listed on line, but carried in the stores?

I just bought one at my local Costco (Kirkland, WA) two days ago (awesome light), but I noticed an asterisk on the price sign which means that what they have in the store is it. It may not come back, or next week/month, it could show up again.

Maybe I should go back and buy another one (sigh) . . . [edit] I did go back and get one more, plus another one for my neighbor who paints apartments.
