I've been buying a lot of Knipex lately but Amazon is chewing up my wallet.
I have their Prime (free shipping), but their prices are too far North sometimes.
Is there a better place to buy after shipping is considered that gets stuff to you swifty?

Chadstoolbox.com has the largest selection… I've gotten some stuff on Amazon (w/Prime) and pricing isn't bad. Depends on how much you're buying, as other sites only offer free shipping over a certain amount (anywhere from $75 to $175+).

HD online, tooltopia and toolbarn are a few. If you know what you looking for (p/n), type it into google and various retailers will come up.

I use JBtoolsales.com, their prices might not be the absolutely cheapest around, but they only want $99 for free shipping, which is easy to do, and my experiences with their customer service have been better than anyone else I've dealt with. I'm willing to pay a little extra for outstanding customer service. Plus, if you send them an e-mail, and you're polite about it, they might even come close to matching the price of some other sites. They won't price match penny for penny, but they get close enough, at least in my opinion.

Zoro is pretty good if you have a coupon and orders over $50 ship for free.

KCTool from time to time runs deals on them. That's where I got my 10" Pliers Wrench.

I got a 3 piece set for my birthday from Amazon that was about $95. I recently looked at it at HD when I found out they were carrying Knipex, and the price was virtually identical. If you want less expensive Knipex pliers, you'll just have to buy Channellocks ;)

Honestly as much as I hate sears, I have been doing well buying knipex online from them. Combined with surprise points and coupons I feel I get good deals. Built this collection so far...6cac32c5696245d4af35642bc212e454.jpg

^ looks like Pittsburg (HF)

I'd get a set of Bondhus from a few extra dollars... very, very nice. Though I'm not sure they make a set with the hex in the handle for extra torque.

They are the harbor freight ones. Not bad for what I need. Nice because they're ball end.

Sears with surprise points. Best kept secret in discounted tools. I was able to get some Witte from them too on a points deal.

How long does it take for their patent to run out, anybody know? Or is it different for them, because they're German? I'm talking about the pliers-wrench. A few German versions do something similar, with a pivoting upper jaw, but it's not the same. Why are there cheap knockoffs of what seems like every other tool except this one? You want a flipper knife? Choose from a whole slew of brands, from cheap to expensive. You need a circular saw, plenty of choices, and they all sort of look the same and perform the same task. If you want a pliers-wrench, you only get one choice, Knipex.

I remember first seeing it in 1998 or 99 in the Snap-On catalog. The only patent I could find on Google is for a "vice-grip" style, locking version, but it looks like it does what the Knipex Pliers-Wrench does, I wonder why I've never seen that version in production. Anyone know how long until we'll see cheap Chinese knock-offs at Walmart? I mean, everybody makes Channel-Locks, oops - I mean, tongue and groove-joint pliers. Or waterpump pliars.

I was looking before Sears had them on sale last week for 35ish bucks. Figured for that price what the hell might as buy the real deal. I am curious if anyone does know out there.
