After about a year and a half my pocket coast LED light pushed me over the edge. It's got a lifetime warranty but you have to pay to ship it in and pay a five dollar shipping and handling fee for another one. It was only about $10 new.

I seem to use one nearly constant anymore so they get a good workout.

Since price technology and so forth so seem to be changing on the regular basis just wondering what everybody else is using and whether they're happy or unhappy with.

I have a Fenix LD22 on my hip at all times. AA rather than C123 so it's easier to get replacements when I'm out and about.

A Snap On Rechargeable Mini Shop Light in my cart. It's magnetic and bright and small. I mainly use it to give me light when working on racks when I need both hands.

A Black Diamond headlamp of some sort in my cart. I mainly use it in ceilings and working with both hands wiring up stuff.

A Milwaukee M12 Stick Light in my tool bag. Comes to offsite jobs and basically fills all above roles. I have M12 tools so having the same battery is a plus, and it hangs or sits nicely by itself. It puts out a ton of light too, so when I'm in a ceiling I can easily see what's going on without necessarily needing to point it in the direction I'm in.

I bought a 6 pack of those UltraFire mini lights. There are several similar looking versions. The ones I got run around 100 lumins if you use a AA battery, but they'll accept a 3V li-ion battery that's the same size and more than doubles the light output.

I picked up one of these in Sears a few weeks ago and I'm actually quite impressed with it:

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-led-...034VA89548312P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2

I've seen them before on counters at hardware and auto parts stores because they're probably all made by the same company in China. I had some SYW points built up and I didn't need anything else so I picked one up.

I will second this Sears/Craftsman LED light!

I bought two of them before Christmas. They are about 6 bucks each. They are very bright, use 3 AAA batteries (they actually come with the batteries!), have a clip on them so you can clip it to your pocket or something else, and also have a magnet in the base so you can stick the light onto anything metal.

I use it on my drill press for extra light. I stick it to the side of the air handler in our attic when I change the filter. I use it all the time when working on my car as it can just stick to the underside of the hood or anywhere on the engine to put light right where I want it. Clipping it to either my shirt pocket or pants pocket provides light where I need it when I do electrical work with the power off.

These are really nice little lights. I have the blue ones. Here is a click free picture.

Good and Cheap...

Good? Nope. They're worth exactly what you pay for them. ;)

I've had at least 8-10 of 'em and NONE of them stay on after they've been used a bit. Have to keep whacking the light against something so it will come back on. They're good when they work correctly, but that doesn't seem to be for very long. :(

If you were to increase your budget a bit, you could get the LED Lenser P7 - you can find it for around $20USD.

I have heard good things about this EZRed light for flood needs. My problem with it is that it doesnt work well in hands free applications.

I have many flashlights and the one i carry all the time is the nitecore EC11. Really small, 1000 lumens, great battery life, and you can clip it on your hat for a headlamp. Can't beat it!

If you have an ALDI near you, they have been stocking a great, bright light for a very attractive price. Uses 2 AA cells, seems to give good live on the batteries.

I am a big fan of the Surefire 6P. I have carried it for ten years or so. Never let me down.
Be careful with the various -fire type brands. Many cheap knockoffs with fake Cree LEDs.

For something that is small enough to carry around in your pocket all of the time, it's hard to beat the Streamlight Microstream. Takes one AAA battery, plenty bright for most tasks where you forgot a larger light, has a pocket clip and is smaller than most pocket knives. Great sub-$20 light and perfect as a gift...

I have had a streamlight micro in my pocket for over 5 years. Most of the black has worn off so it's mostly silver anymore, but it still works. I use it most every day. When it dies I will buy another just the same.

Ultrafire is a Chinese knockoff brand.
SureFire is a top shelf US brand.

It's like the difference between Chicago Electric and Chicago Pneumatic.
