Good price for lexan

I am wanting to vacuum form my own RC bodies, in order to to so I am in need for some lexan or polycarbonate sheets. Anyone have a bead on a decent price for some? New bodies cost 30-40 bucks each, I plan on buying one body and reproducing for my enjoyment as needed. If I can find a 4x8 sheet for decent price I could make them for 10.00 or so each. Thanks

I found that I could buy plastic from a commercial supply house such as www.professionalplastics.com cheaper than I could buy from a retail outlet like Tap Plastics

Used race car windshields come up cheap and free at circle tracks. They will be fairly scratched up not sure if those will work for you.

You might check around at glass cutting shops and hardware stores for drop they will trash otherwise.

Tell them you are doing some project for kids for bests results

We buy a ton of lexan. It comes in several thicknesses from .005 to .177 so you need to decide your gauge first. Look for a Laird Plastics or any local commercial plastic supplier in your area.

We buy a lot of plastic sheet. Our supplier, usually Sabic out of Charleston, SC, will sometimes tell us about a customer that has a bunch of drops. If you can find something like that it usually way cheap. A place will need 6' x 4' pieces and sometimes just toss the drops in a dumpster.

"Lexan is WAAAAYYYY overkill. " RC guys have been using Lexan for years, it is currently the best option. The way the bodies are formed, and the nature of RC racing and bashing, not even Lexan stands a chance.
