So I was scouring my local classifieds and came across this. Ive been looking for a drill press for forever now and this one is close to me. Is 150 a fair price or too steep. I've heard of guys picking these up for like 90 bucks. It looks pretty clean. So should I go for it or hold off and try for one cheaper? keep in mind i'm not in a hurry to get one as I won't using it much for the next year, upcoming trip for work.

If you have been looking forever then $150 is a steal.

Oh, hell yeah! Run out and grab that sucker right now!

And when you do, some photos and a written nomenclature of the DP would be helpful.

An Atlas 15" drill press with Atlas motor, nice table & chuck, that's pretty close to where it ought to be. Around $100 to $125 would be better . . . but your area may not see many like that. If on CL for a while, you might have some negotiating room. However, if he absolutely wants $150, then see if he'll "Sweeten The Pot" a bit with something thrown in (drill bits / DP table vise) and pay the man. Good luck.

It's on the upper end, more in the ~$100 range. Cheap replacement chuck, missing condom, no 3rd pulley set. I have the same drill press badged craftsman.

I'm quite sure each one of us could recall a multitude of times we've heard of others getting stuff at prices we could only dream of. If you stick to holding out for what you've heard others pay, you could be waiting a lifetime. Simple question. What's it worth to you? If you really need or want one and that price is fine for you, I wouldn't personally be waiting and hoping to see a unicorn.

Patience is generally a virtue when looking for something at a good price, but you also have to consider how much time you'll waste waiting and looking for that golden price. Besides, the moment you get one, regardless of price, you're guaranteed to see at least one cheaper within a week or two. Never fails. :D

I did a search on your local CL and the asking price for tools there are quite high compared to other places. So compared to other prices on your site price is probably ok.

A year from now you won't think of what you paid for it, if you're using it a lot. You'll just be satisfied with it.

That's a nice old table-top DP, they don't make them like that one anymore.

If it will suit your needs for a good amount of time, then it's a good deal. But I would certainly make sure it runs true before you hand over the $.
