I have been looking for a larger socket set just to have. A Wright 1" set came up on craigslist for $500 with a partial 3/4" proto set included. I'm sure I could talk him down some but what's a reasonable price?
I just did a quick search on eBay and the wright set came up for $1500!!!!! Wow.

That's such a highly specialized set that it's whatever you can negotiate with the seller and how anxious he is to sell it.

If he's in an oil field or heavy industrial region then there might be some competition. If not then it could be a buyer's market.

I might start at around $250-300 to gauge his motivation to sell.

That's an outstanding price!

Of course everybody including me would try to bring the price down some. Who wouldn't? But for that set plus an extra almost set I'd be all over that.

Outstanding as in.....? How much do y'all think just the wright set is worth? I can't find it anywhere else.
Yes I would use it and I've been wanting a set of larger sockets.

Wagon: i picked up a Plumb one inch wrench for $100 off of Craigs a while back and another 3/4 inch P & C set with a mixed 3/4 socket set up to about 2 inch for $175 from a different seller, but they are not common to find at those prices so you have to run if you see them.

we don't have any oil fields up here in the NW, but we do make a few fairly big planes and trucks.

Jswain: the ratchet head actually pulls out and comes in from the other side if i remember correctly. i might be wrong because i haven't used it yet. it's pretty old and pretty cool and by the way it's over 2 feet long so not a little guy.

JSwain: thanks. you are the first person to say anything about it and i posted it over on the Plumb thread a few weeks ago. i'll double check, but i do have a few old ratchets that have this pass thru design. i don't remember them having the little lever though.

Waggoneer: i can honestly say i haven't seen or heard of Wright brand wrenches so they might be rarer than the ones i have and only you and your research will know that. there was a time not too long ago where i thought a socket or wrench was just that. then i joined GJ and discovered some differences.

Buy it!!!!!! Why are you second guessing yourself?? Look at everything you are getting... 1 Wright Chromed 1" drive ratchet, Hell the new ones aren't chromed I do believe they are satin these days
2 Extensions
1 Breaker bar
A boatload of sockets, most of which aren't even used
1 Heavy duty metal box to hold all of your goods...

As a bonus you get a 3/4 drive set with its own box and sockets

All for $500! If I had it I would buy it! Sure, talk him down if you can, but even if it was $800 it would still be worth it.

cheapest price I know for Wright 1" set is $2,700+. Had a new set last year on craigs, finally sold for $500 after many months.

Maybe would have done better on ebay but oh well. Think I paid $240 for it
