Good quality crows foot wrenches?

Looking for a good set of crowsfoot wrenches, have had a huge news for them ever but lately there have been times they would be hand, mainly hydraulic hose fittings. Looking for recommendation on a good set that won't spread without breaking the bank. G2S tools (Canada) has a set of gear wrench 3/8-1" set for 87 bucks plus if you buy that set you get a free metric set 10-19.

Are the gear wrench crowsfeet any good, they would see little use other than when they are really needed, have always made due without. Any other suggestions? Considering just bucking up and buying a SO set but it's a lot of $$$ for something I can live with out.

If your using them for hose fittings I would get the flare nut crows foot, sunex are fairly cheap also but I don't have either so can't say anything about the quality of each.

I bought a couple of SnapOn in specific sizes and the rest are whatever I find used at good prices.

i've bought the open ends on an "as needed" basis over the years.

i have a few specific sizes in flare nut style for fuel lines, as well as a few line socket styles.

all 3/8" drive, 1/2" dr are usually too big to fit where they need to go.

all SO

some of them are 30 years old, never spread open or broken one
flarenut styles usually wont work on a hose, opening isnt wide enough to clear the hose.
just something to think about before purchasing....

gearwrench, tekton, and sunex usually have sets available for discounted prices on amazon warehouse deals. all seem pretty comparable to me.

if you are biased in that direction, there are various shapes available also (generally oval shaped, rounder with the ratchet opening sticking out).

go to amazon.com, set the selector on the left side of the search bar to "amazon warehouse deals", and enter crowfoot. or, just use this:

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_...ords=crows+foot&rh=n:10158976011,k:crows+foot

(hmm, no crowfoot tekton) ahh, well, still a lot to choose from. i do have some of the tekton, and can recommend them. (they are having a 10$ off 50$ tekton purchase now, so there is that to consider, too)

Excellent point. Copper line fittings a flarenut style is generally best, hydraulic fittings usually are tough enough for a regular crowfoot.

I have the Sunnex flare nut crows foot wrenches. My only complaint and I am not sure if this is the norm is that they have no detents for the ratchet extension ball to snap into. They stayed on fine but I was initially concerned they might come off too easily. The quality is good. The plain open ends might be stronger but besides tightening fittings the slimmer profile can be an advantge in tight spaces.

Not sure if your on eBay but I would check it out. I got a fabulous deal on snap on flare crows feet a while back it was under $200 for complete sets Metric and SAE

They were brand new except for the 7/8 was slightly used I would keep an eye out at that rate there worth every penny.

The OP did not want to break the bank. I guess the the idea of expensive is relative. Under $200 is a lot of money to me. If you are a Snap On guy and prefer to avoid other brands I guess it is a good deal vs the price off the truck. If you don't make your living with your tools or have a lot of disposable income, the cost is hard to justify. Make no mistake. I know they are great tools

By breaking the bank I meant the 500+ for retail, I am a HDEM so more commonly I would be using 1"+ most sets go up to 1" so I would need 2 sets of SAE, for both brand new from SO it's like 1500 CDN or something outrageous. However, I wouldn't be using them all the time (really I have made due for years without but have been buying tools lately to make my life easier) so if I could pick up a good set that isn't going to spread and a good price that would probably be the root to go, for me.

Spread is the key word that you want to avoid and personally that's why I went with and would go snap on. Like you I don't use mine all of the time, but when I do they must work without question think old lines and such that would be a extreme pain in the *** to replace if you round off the flare nut. Is your time worth the money you would have saved???

typically, "original packaging" with damage means that the package is damaged, not necessarily the item.

Harry Epstein has a new Bonney set, less the 7/16, for under $55 USD. Other options to look would be: e-bay, swap meets, flea markets and GJ classifieds.

They lack the detent that the snap on has correct?
That was a major deal breaker for me on the sunex.

Paid by the hour, not concerned nor pushed to save time here and there, but having been replacing lower end tools that for preform as well from earlier days to better quality stuff, not that all to stuff was like that but some is, trying to make life easier.

I'm in a different boat as im the one eating the cost if something doesn't go smoothly. To each there own.

I think for your sake as you get into the larger sizes, brand is most likely less of an issue.

Wafrederick^^^ not to be mean, but that sounds like a real good advice. A HF product thats no longer Available and YouTube video by some guy you don't remember...
