I was trying to swap couplers today and the hex flats on the Home-Depot-level flex hose I have rounded off like it was made of pot metal. Any good quality alternative, preferably North American or European made?

I could buy another cheapie, but then I'd just be going through this whole exercise again in a year or two.

EDIT: Found a two-pack of Mize 12" and 24" flex hoses on the 'bay, made in USA. Will give those a try.

I recommend having a local hydraulic shop make you what you want. You'll likely pay a bit more than a prefab, but you'll also be getting a higher quality of material, and hopefully fewer failures down the line (bubbling, rounding off fitting ends, kinks, etc). I've had numerous ones made for different AF base shops I've worked in over the years for ~$20, depending on length.

When you lube a 60K Tunner cargo loader that has more than 150 grease fittings with 12 cartridges of grease every 250 hours of service, sometimes that's less than 3 weeks in service, you want a grease gun and hose that can keep up to the abuse.

^Good call. I ordered some USA ones on the 'bay, but will do this for the next ones I need.

You would be a great candidate to really tell if some of the higher end synthetic greases 'actually' do double the service interval of greasing procedure and meet the big claims many synthetic grease products make. I would imagine a pale or drum of grease would suit what you do, you can put a pump on them to pressure fill your grease guns instead of using cartridges. Bulk grease pales often will fill a 450gm gun at a fraction of the cost of a cartridge even purchased by the box of 12. But who knows you may have good reason for doing it the way you do.

CR888,

Many shops I've worked in also have pneumatic grease guns with drums. Had a 55 gal drum set up in Afghanistan that worked great if we could get the loader into the shop and keep the hose from getting tangled on the loader. Unfortunately sometimes mission doesn't allow for us to get them together everytime.

Hopefully this link below shows up. Lots of climbing around to keep these loaders lubed and running. You find out quick what tools or equipment work and what doesn't.
