If organization is an issue I would think about a good toolbox before anything else.

I suffered needlessly for years just because I stupidly did not appreciate the value of a decent toolbox. I had a nice USA Craftsman set in a cool blow molded case, but I hated using it because it was a hassle to lift (heavy) and open (took up most of the workbench). When you are working on a project super easy access to tools is key and placing a large tool case on your workbench is NOT efficient.

With just a 30" stacked box I have drawers dedicated to each tool category and getting to the right tools is a pleasure instead of a hassle.

Just take your existing disparate tools and place them in dedicated drawers (screwdrivers, wrenches, sockets/ratchets, pliers/shears/snips, hammers, drills/bits, etc) and you will be amazed how much easier it is to find the right tools.

Even if you get a top end set, if you don't have a good box I think you are missing a key component. Good luck with the garage!
