Im looking for a well made wire wheel for my 1/2 inch arbor, 6 in diameter bench grinder. Anything American made? Everything I have found locally took the slow boat if you know what I'm saying. I have a Grainger by me and they sell Weiler brand but if they are made in china and sell for $30 and the ones at The Home Depot are also made in China for $6 is there a real difference?

It's not made in America but a company called Felton makes good wire wheels. Made in Canada.

They loop the wire through a hole in the hub so 2 wires are actually from 1 piece of wire. This reduces fly off.

My dad has a pedestal grinder that had a wire wheel on it, the thing lasted for years. I used it all the time, it was like the never ending wire wheel. I just wish I knew who made it.

Ditto on this. I inherited my grandpas bench grinder and it's had the same wire wheel for 30 years (maybe 1 a week use) but no clue who made it. Sorry i realize that's no help.

Try Brush Research, www.brushresearch.com
Everything I have gotten from them has been made in the usa, and I have been very happy with the quality.

Have you looked on MSC? They have quite a few different vendors.....some USA

McMaster-carr is another, hough once you have a part/item number you need to ask where it is made.

you could also look on e-bay for NOS wheels that private people are selling.
