Good Ratchet & Socket Set on Amazon?

Hey guys I've got a couple hundred bucks of Amazon credit and also would like to pickup a decent ratchet set.

I was looking at the larger Stanley sets but then I came across this:

Thought it looked interesting. Don't really need/want all the bits and wrenches most sets come with.

Then again a cheaper set would give me both metric and inch, but it seems like everything I have is metric. Either way they'd beat my tiny set of cheap husky stuff.

Also need a decent torque wrench. . . but that might be another day. . .

We've got some CDI torque wrenches at work (mostly in-lbs dial gauge types) and they seem to be damned good quality.

The CDI torque wrenches (an industrial division of Snap-On) are great as are the Bahco ratchets (80 tooth same as Snap-On dual 80). For sockets I might go SK as well, Brokewrench gave you some good ideas.

I believe there has been some complaints that the Wera Ratchet doesnt really bite down due to the composites and construction.

Take a look at Epsteins or Cripes if you want a good quality set at a lower cost.

I have the wera ratchet, and it is my most used ratchet and have become my favorite. I have not had any issues with the 72t gearing. But it is very expensive set in the US.

The Williams is a good set as well.

Also if you go with amazon, proto would be the socket I would get over sk, great tools without the super high price.

Searching for "3/8 socket set" was pulling up very limited results.

I thought I had only a few choices, now it seems like too many

Wera zyklop made in the Czech Republic
William listed, made in Taiwan, The US made ones are way more money.
SK made in the USA

Seems like the best deal for the most complete set that's also USA.

Added that CDI torque wrench to the wishlist. . .

I might have to pick up one of those Wera ratchets one of these days though.

Not sure about that. My understanding is that their screwdrivers are Czech, but the ratchets are Taiwan. Not sure about the sockets.

They are taiwan, well the ones I have. And the socket and extensions I got are also made in the czech. The gearing on the ratchet is imported from taiwan.

There is also Blackhawk by proto, they make a very good set as well.

And for armstrong, this is a excellent 3/8dr set, much better ratchet then the sk. It is the same 88t as the matco ratchet.

the new ones are 88t, only the flex head are 60t.
