I like the Williams Hard handle ones. Recently saw an 8 pc set for $57.50. They have bigger sets too.

Great screwdrivers for the money.

I bought the wright set on a whime several years ago. I love the handles they put on those, they are huge. Use it quite a bit, no complaints. If I could only have one set of screwdrivers I guess I wouldn't pick them due to the limited sizes and lack of bolsters, but they do what they do well. I have always read they are pratt read, but don't have any definitive proof one way or another. They are nothing like any pratt read product I have seen.

$100 is way too much unless you need somthing special.

i just went to amazon and looked up a wright set of screwdrivers to get the reference point for cost... 100 maybe a little much but then again

i found this for 100

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002C2BPZI/?tag=atomicindus08-20

now for a snap on set comparable is 170

https://store.snapon.com/Instinct-1...-Combination-Red-Screwdriver-Set-P645285.aspx

maybe 100 is not really all that much, i dont need craftsman, kobalt, husky quality as i own all of those brands and i want something that dose not start to round when tightening.

Maybe not in the same league as what you're looking at, but several members have praised the USA Tekton sets with the trilobular handles. Some guys don't like the handles but I think they'll be nice to use, I have the 16 piece set arriving Friday.

see i can get behind those if you can let me know how they compare to craftsman screwdrivers. they look like the old snap on soft triangular screwdriver and a carlyle made a ugly baby, i could care less of looks if they can perform. i got a few deals from snap on truck buying pink handle tools.

please let me know how they are when you get them.

I have the long Snap on set in red, white, blue instinct and for normal I have a yellow instinct handle set and hell the long handle set was $180 plus tax and yellow set was $108 on ebay and are only phillips but got some green instinct flats I love snap on screwdrivers and very much so the special ones my wife even has the pink instinct set and pink ratcheting screwdriver and mines green.
If I had to pick any other it would be a tie for facom, proto, witte and hell I'd buy them all I own some of the facom and witte already and very nice, proto and facom are well over 100 but you can get the witte cheap on eBay like the Matco or Napa set for $30-$50 so you could get torx and mini all for $100 I'd say if you looked around on eBay.

The proto set on Zoro is really nice, but doesn't have Torx drivers. The SK ergo handles are the way to go there—they are 2" longer than all the competing Torx drivers and made things a lot easier on my lathe vfd conversion.

Wiha rules for micro drivers. I also have a bunch of Xcelites for electronics work, they have nice options for long blades with cabinet tips that can get to deeply recessed screws.

If you are getting into tools either as a hobby or professionally you are NOT going to need to look for ways to spend money, plenty of situations will be coming along where the only option is to spend a serious amount of money.

Chances are extremely good that one brand of screwdriver vs another will not be a factor in your success on any job in the near future. Use the right size and type to fit the fastener and make sure the tip is fully inserted before applying torque. Repair or replace any driver that is worn, wear is what makes them torque out and slip.

HF has OK screwdrivers free, get the set of six or 8, the 100 bit set with a handle and a sideways ratcheting holder, and the 4 in 1 flip bit screwdriver to start with.

Williams magnetic ratcheting screwdriver is the one I 90% of the time. That magnet is wonderful for holding screws while you start threading them.

yeah looking to spend money is easy right lol:bounce:

when i get a little extra money coming my way i want to try and expand what i have in my tool arsenal. usually never use the **** i buy but i like to know when i set up my garage i will have the tools and when needed i can dig it out of where ever i hid them.

also for the most part i have el cheapo screwdrivers from where ever and we all know craftman screwdriver's metal is soft and i have a few klines that made its way into the tool box. plus having a good tool when needed really makes a difference.

I see one extra long PH1, so Proto cant make a Phillips head? nice, I judge makers by a quality long lasting PH #1. BTW I have that long one from Proto, I haven't reached for it in a dozen years, it cams out every time.

This is a set sold by Harry Epstein. It doesn't mean that Proto doesn't make a Phillips, it is that they (Epstein) doesn't have any Phillips to go with that set. HJE isn't a Proto dealer, but rather is selling this closeout screwdriver set.....at a good price

Like anything,... it depends. What do you work on and more importantly handle preferences. IMO May as well be asking what toilet paper you should be getting with a unlimited budget.
watchmaking or diesel engine repair?

Proto.. They are the same as Mac Tools screw drivers just different color.. Mac Tools and Proto is the same company as they are both owned by Stanley Tools now...
If a tool company is not owned by Stanley it is owned by Apex with precious few exceptions.

I was going to mention the HF set that is often a freebie. I was expecting very little and have no allusions that they compare to a quality brand but I have used them without any sign of blade or handle wear. I keep expecting them to break and they don't.

I love my Snap On screwdrivers. I personally prefer the Instinct soft handles, but I know some guys prefer the hard handles.

Not happy with the Pratt-Reed sets I bought. Twisted the straight drivers right off the bat.

If you keep an eye out on certain slippery deal websites, the Wera Kraftform screwdriver sets occasionally go on sale for ~$23. They are a quality, German made screwdriver, and an absolute steal at that price.

If the set you buy does not have hollow ground slotted screwdrivers, I would recommend a few of those as well. They are less likely to cam out of the slot on stubborn screws or for use with showy pieces. They are often referred to as gunsmith screwdrivers. They do not work well for dirty/rusted screws.

I find myself going for my hollow ground sets more often.

I have several different brands in my box. It really comes down to personal preference. I recently picked up some Wera drivers that I really like.
