SK is my first thought as well, but I have to ask, you are talking about at least 1/2" drive correct? >19mm I do have a few 3/8" sockets (mostly picked up as odd lots) and I probably will use them about never.

Larger sizes I just buy them when the need arises or I find a good deal on them. I bought the Craftsman 3/4" drive metric set because Sears was practically giving them away a year or so ago.

I can't recall using anything larger than a 1-1/8 (weight distributing hitch and pinion nut) or 21mm on anything but axle nuts. I have larger sockets in both SAE and metric, but I use most of them to drive seals or bearings.

You make a good point... I actually just used a 1-1/4" the other day on a *rear* axle (old Dana 44 tapered axle) but I'm trying to think of an application where you'd need a socket that big and an impact wouldn't work. So, it would make sense to buy those larger sizes in impacts...

Probably shouldn't have sold my PI torque wrench either... it was just longer enough than my Snappy that 170 ft-lbs didn't feel quite so much like real work.

So far, you have 10 reasonable suggestions... I'll toss another one towards ya::
pick up two larger sets of deepwell impact sockets. Your basics will be covered...

It is nice to have deepwells...
