I guess I missed out on the cheap Lowes sale on this stuff. Anybody know of any other super discounted prices? Looking for 12x12 light gray commercial stuff.

I put 12x12 light gray commercial VCT in my wood shop, got it at Menards--they were the cheapest around...btw, you will want someone to buff and wax it once installed as it comes pretty dull. I had our cleaning contractor from work come out and do it on the side or you can rent the machine, but letting a pro do it is worth the effort, plus they will have the good commercial wax so you won't have to go to an industrial supply and buy a big 5 gallon bucket of it...

How cheap is cheap....its about .66 a square foot around here

A lot of the Lowe's stores were clearancing out the $.69 tiles, some of them were going for $.07 per tile...
All my local Lowes said they hadn't heard about it and they were still regular price when I checked and called the other day...

Check the thickness. The cheap stuff at Lowes is very thin compared to a good Armstrong commercial VCT

I did mine probably 5 years ago in VCT from Home Depo:

I love my VCT tile. Did a 3 car garage for about $450.

how smooth does the floor need to be before application of the VCT tiles?
I'm sure the adhesive probably could fill in a slightly low spots, but any high spots would need to be ground down...

That looks great btw! are those 2' squares?

Well, mine was smooth with some cracks that I filled before putting it down. I did 4 12x12 tiles per square to make a bigger look.

What can you do to protect the surface from hot tire marks and yellowing etc?

I was trying to figure that out too... I think I'm going to lay the VCT then after scuffing it up with 80 grit sanding and cleaning it put on 2 coats of epoxy clear coat and a coat of Urethane to keep it super protected...

And then lay porcelain over the top of that...
