Looking for Makita 9.6.v Battery #9000 and DC9700A Fast Charger. My favorite old cordless drill. Anyone know if these are still offered anywhere? Or has anyone had any luck with a particular on-line seller?

Thanks:thumbup:

I've seen a few on E-bay. I saw the rising prices for batteries and started looking for a new drill. Found a drill, light, circular saw, two batteries and a charger, (Roybi) at Home Depot last year for $100.00. 18-volt, more then enough power for my needs. Gave my Makita set, including 3 batteries to my son.

Make sure all the contacts on the charger are clean. Most time the Bridge Rectifier goes bad Part # NTE5309 It's a 1" square gray looking part. Radio elect shops have them about $5.00

They may not be the cheapest source but our local ACE Hardware has both the battery and charger in stock. I bought a couple of new batteries the last time they had a "20% off anything that fits in the bag" sale :)

I have an 18V Makita Lithium-Ion Driver Drill and Impact Driver that I use for heavy duty work. But I still love my old 9.6V Makita 3/8" drill screw driver. It just feels good in the hand.

BTW I got an older version of this drill on Freecycle - you can't beat the price. This gives me a nice backup in case the old workhorse finally goes to pasture.

9.6V is tough. I have an old pro-line 12V Ryobi Drill-driver but the batteries are just shot and replacements or rebuilds were more expensive than a new drill. I sniffed a bit and purchased a new 18V DeWalt outfit. I have considered gutting one of those old battery packs and connecting a cord back to a big auto battery or a 30A 12V power supply I have... But corded is not quite the same as cordless and I already have a couple nice corded drill motors.

I have the original (I think) model from the late 1980's. The drill is great. My uncle has about 6 of them in his shop. They've got plenty of power for drywall screws and 2 x 4's too.

I ended up getting the battery on Amazon for about $40 + shipping.

I bought 2 new batterys and a new charger at Lowes two years ago.
I did have to wait about one week for everything to come in.
Did you try "Batterys Plus", a chain of stores popping up all over here.
They've got everthing.
