Good stuff from Griots?

do you know any good tools from Griots that you would recommend. I know some of their stuff is overpriced but some are unique as well.
I plan to get the security bits ($20) and maybe the impact sockets with the soft sleeve that protect wheels.

and their jackstands are great... I have them.

Oh if there is any garage gadgets you would recommend I would like to hear them as well

The thread restorer lives in my "road box" its small and has come in handy at times. its no replacement for a full set of tap and dies, but on the road it will save you.

the 1/4 ratchet has bailed me out at times, but its not used every day, just at certain times when nothing else will fit.

so I have no complaints with either item. they both do their intended jobs, just don't expect either to save the world. they are tools that sit for a long time, but when you need them there is usually no alternative.

Although I have heard Greedots...I don't really agree. It's a great one-stop shop of those with more money than time. Almost all of their goods though can be sourced outside them cheaper.

how about get a spare impact socket for the size you need for your lugnuts and then install a shrink tube sleeve on it.

My wife got me their hex wrench sets in SAE and metric for christmas a couple of years ago. Very nice quality stuff, the ball ends come in handy and the extra length has come in handy several times.

Griots Garage sell an random orbit buffing machine that's supposed to be pretty good... other than that, I'd rather have stuff from that "other" Garage store: Ultimate Garage.

Back in the day when Griot's Garage was in California, they sold Facom branded tools and they had some unusual items. Now days with the departure of Facom, they only offer a few tools. Perhaps they should consider replacing the Facom line with Beta. They would have that unique and uncommon link to european cars to go along with their other high end cleaners and stuff.

Griot's used to sell the Porter-Cable and that's what I have. The last time I visited their showroom they had just come out with their house branded unit. I picked it up and it weighs about a third of the PC, is made completely of plastic and is made in China.

Does anyone know if these driver bits are any good? They look almost exactly like the bits I saw at Harbor Freight yesterday and just couldn't quite get myself to buy.

Good point. Although some of their stuff is unique (I think the skeleton creeper is in that camp) other items are rebrands.

I don't begrudge a company making a profit, and even though lthough it's not Griot branded, the Porter Cable compressor they sell for $469 is model #C3151 and is available for $315 at other places.

Maybe we could start listing Griots products with their real world counter parts.

Griots is a Boutique with Boutique prices, my guess is that everything they sell is of premium quality and they stand behind the products etc. Griots is the sort of place I might suggest to somebodys wife if they wanted to know where to buy a present etc.

Cyclo and PC seem like the favorites for polishers. The HF polisher is a pos, sounds like marbles are loose inside or something, but when it gets too noisy they hand me a new one and I paid $20 for it. The HF $8 set of 100 security bits though seems fine.

Though I haven't looed lately, the RO Buffer used to be a rebadged PC 7224 that you can pick up at lowes on sale for $89.

Because it is much smaller and the housing is made entirely of plastic. It feels like a toy compared to the PC.

I have a pc, cyclo, metabo rotary and a flex 3401. If you want to do paint correction instead of applying waxes and prewax cleaners you should look at the flex. Very well made, safer than rotary and much faster correction than a PC (or griots/meqs polishers).
On topic. The only tools I have from Griots are the jack stands which are nice. They also make a nice car wash and quick detailer.
Usually you can find the same or better products else where and cheaper.

but for something like the temper proof bits set is only $20 and has more bits than I get from the set at electronic store, (e.g. tri-wing bit to Open up a Wii) I think it's a good buy..

Or the creeper they have now is definitely a Kreepster(tm) painted Red, Griot sells it for $129 and a real Kreepster sells for $180-$220.

It's a shame that PC never re-badged the flex 3401 like they did with all the other flex grinders. I have the porter cable 7428, aka flex 602

Well my friend's daughter dropped the whole console and cracked it, so he bought an aftermarket bling chrome casing to replace the original.. he asked me where to get the tri-wing. Griot's kit came to mind

I was wondering if you are like my brother George: he buys a PS, but doens't have any games. He uses it's processors to run calculations for the chemistry department where he goes to school!
