Been using gearwrench, pins keep coming out, i push them back into place, then go fight advance auto to replace them when i get done (where i purchased them kept original receipt and photo copy) with that i'm working with. Starting to get kinda old though.

Snap on does not have a pin through the middle, but i cant afford a metric and standard set.

Anyone got a recommendation?

Good to know about the GW ones, I've been looking at them. Astro has a set, dirt cheap, that I was considering, but when I spoke to the rep here about them, he was less than enthusiastic about their quality.
Hard to find a reasonably priced set in chrome. SK will be the next I consider.

The astros are bad....I keep looking at SK still pricey but not out of this world. Don't really want to have to ship them off if it breaks i've broken 2 "standard" sockets in my life. I break a hand full of GW swivels a week.

Really looking hard a carlyle the design looks different than apex and they don't normally fight me on an exchange.

Used impact swivels forever, but lately I've been adding chrome ones to the arsenal. Have had real good luck finding used Mac and Cornwell sets. The quality is there but for whatever reason they're cheaper than other top tier brands. None of these sets cost over $50, all are tight with no flop. Just takes a little patience but they're out there

Is there a reason you can't use impact swivels for the times you only need a bit of swivel action and reserve the chromed ones for the really steep angles only?

Check eBay for used snap on that's really your best bet

Also same as above ^^^ I pretty much get away with 3/8 sunex swivel impacts full sets and about 10 different chrome swivels in my most comon sizes a mix of brands. I find this set up works well as time progresses I will add more and upgrade to snap on ones.

How about the vintage craftsman USA if you want American made.. Price probaly it's too bad on eBay, or you could try their newer craftsman sets.. I have some from each, both look well made but I don't have much experince with either one.

Here's the vintage v series

The current production run is Apex (taiwan) and should be just about the same as GW. Maybe not as my gearwrench are china.

As far as the impact sockets go they wont fit where i need them too.

I'd like the snap on's but 40 bucks each is out of my range.
